Don, beautiful and ecstatic you saved these. I'm sure you realize this, but I'll enlighten otherss that don't. The reason for the differences in your 65 & 71 LK is taht despite teh "appearance" the buttons on the 65 controled temps, it's an illusion. Yes the buttons "stopped" at the point in the timer for you to "select" that cycle, but it was still all driven by the increments on the timer. I found this out with the 64/65 LK next door by just studying some stuff. On the combo, the buttons only differentiated the awrm or cold rinse. On the 71, the buttons control more, hence the ability for whites & colors to have the longest washes for PP & Normal. As well as the cold wash on Normal. And the ability to have teh opt. cold rinse always. Does this year have the 2 minute detergent dispense time or the 4 minute? Also, I vaguely remember there was a separate button for knits (a 10 or 12 minute wash with a short soak period) and delicates? Ya gotta love the 30 minute enzyme soak, I wish I had it today for using my Biz. (PS, I'm actually more than a bit envious). In fact, this was the set that replaced teh 64/65 Combo next door--a 2-xstep process-first the dryer function went and then the washer. Those LKs were avocado.
