Louis----You are forever in my good graces for mentioning SPARKS, one of my all-time favorite bands. And yes, Music That You Can Dance to is a classic (though not well-known outside the hippest US clubs) Eurobeat tracks of that era.

As all of the readers here know from many of my past notes,I still love to dance a lot but mostly to the older, original beats and songs that, unless some rich person or persons open a nationwide radio network other than what's currently on cable to play them, are endless and hard to find without having to listen to what I always called "filler music" which was used primarily to either thin the crowd down to a minimum on the floor or to build up the amount of dancers out there to the max.Chuck Parsons was the greates dj at the Hippo and liked having fans like me go to "Music Liberated" get the free promo albums and blast them, stopless for hours,as we tried to make new steps, jumps, whirls and twirls to the new beat.By the time we were ready to go out,all the words and moves had been programmed in our little,tini-tiny brains and as our cue came on,we'd either hear it begin, already out there dancing and warming up and, usualy go "apeshit" and get lost in the music. Sometimes non-stop for hours.Other times,my friends would have to come and litteraly pry me off the dance floor to either leave to another club or just to socialize.I didn't care.As long as I got my fill and felt like I had accomplished some type of goal.Whether it be scoring a one night stand or maybe even a long time relationship.I remember when I was a bit worried about the little "love handles I had and would work out every other day at the gym at Johns Hopkins University and see guys there that I'd run into later that night at the Hippo.Of course, other than saying "Hi" or just shaking hands, the locker room could become quite busy shaking other things to say the least. There was quite a bit of action there a few times but it only happened on the weekends whewn there were fewer guys there to horse around with.

Thanks for your comments...

Hi Frigilux.

Thank you and Likewise....
That Sparks dance track got heavy play only in gay clubs in the U.K.
The number of straight female friends we took along with us (they loved the music) and checking the men out ! Haha !
My kindest regards to you.
Louis.

Hi Laundromat.
I also used to spend most of the night on the dance floor.
I wasnt one for propping up the bar ...
The Gay clubs here in the U.K in the 80's were good.
My regular haunts were Primos and Rockshots in Manchester and Leeds .
Flamingos in Blackpool ( Richard Branson used to own it back then )
Bananas bar in Leeds also.
I was fascinated by the DJ's abilities of mixing tracks .
My memories of the dance floor...
YSL cologne and other peoples poppers !
You made me laugh when you mentioned the nights "rehersals"
I can remember getting ready to go out and " preparing " myself for the floor ..
One of my friends always carried a pair of castanets with him . Clacking all night long. Bless him ...lol...
I have a good collection of HI NRG /Eurobeat and listen to something everyday.
I would love to go to a retro club .
I am listening to Evelyn Thomas -Reflections as I'm typing this to you.
Keep the spirit alive Laundromat.
Kindest regards.
Love. Louis.
