Thank You Kevin!--------- Matt L;
It tastes almost the same as long ago. Seems I recall the cake being a bit more airy, but warming it up helps. I remember also eating the date bars. Entenmans has nada over it, as much as I like thier almond, pecan, or walnut coffee rings.
A good sour cream coffee cake is easy enough to bake, and you can adjust the brown sugar, nuts, butter, and cinnamon filling to your own tastes. You can even use Nutella, but it is as high in saturated fat as butter because it has palm oil in it.
I gained 3 lbs. of fluid weight over the weekend from eating that, and dinner out, a Mai Tai, and from the sodium in the food, and baking powder and soda in cake. It's all sodium.
"Hubby used to be a registered dietitian". I also ate a few bite size Milky way, Snickers, and Twix candy the kids have left at their place from Halloween.
Gladly, when I got on the scale this morning, back to 170#. We only cheat eat on weekends, or holidays. One needs to enjoy at least one vice, otherwise, why kill it in the gym all week? I am not much of a drinker either. No beer.
As a teen, I could eat as much of whatever, and I never gained a pound. That all began to change at age 25.
I still Love eating, and have to fight food cravings, however, not eating past 6 p.m. helps, and also not eating too many carbs later in the day. That can wake me up at 3 a.m. hungry. Carbs metabolize to sugar, and the body burns it first, and that makes fat. I'll have an afternoon snack of 1/4 cup almonds, or with pecans, or walnuts, or a casein protein shake with 8 oz. of almond milk. I have a morning shake after a workout with Whey protein before a light breakfast of oatmeal 1/2 cup, or 2-3 eggs, and 1/2 cup nuts. No toast, but maybe with a low carb tortilla.
Or, toast is fine now and then once you reach your target weight goals.
Also drinking lots of water helps, up to 25% of our body weight per day. Yes, you'll go a lot. Soda wether diet or not is not water. It has sodium also. Neither is tea or coffee. This is not a diet, but more of a Livit. Once you train your metabolism that food is sustinance, and not all pleasure, it becomes easier.
Don't mistake though, I have the occasional bakery made 400 calorie jelly doughnut, or cinnamon roll, and truly enjoy it! Then I'm done with it for quite a while. Both of us also adore potato chips, and other salty snacks. Also cheese cakes, and chocolate cakes. Now not everyone is made to be thin, nor should we all be, but not being morbildly obese can be avoided.
You can have a serving of 25 Cheez-its. They are not that high in carbs or calories.
Four ounces of protein for luch, and five for supper, approx. is plenty for most of us. Either meat, chicken, turkey, or seafood. Try avoiding the saltier smoked varieties, most of the time. I was surprised when I read the Kowalski kilbasa label that the fresh has more sodium than the smoked, but hubby told me it's because the extra salt added is a preservative. The smoked is already fully cooked. I'll have 4 ounces for lunch, or 5 for dinner, with one cup of saurkraut, and one cup of noodles pre-cooked. Egg spaitzel, or pasta. It fills me up. I heat up the cubed sausage in the microwave on a paper towel to absorb the melted fat for just a minute, or less. If you're trying to lose, only have a half cup of pasta or noodles.
I even add a small pat of butter.
You can eat many foods you enjoy, with portion control. Fewer calories expelled than consumed is the key. It takes 3500 calories to gain one pound of fat, but more energy to lose a pound.
Cardio excercise alone does not work at our age, but weight training helps immensely. A you exert the muscles, tiny tears in the fibers make them regenerate, and can help them grow, but you need to properly nourish them with protein, and amino acid. Suppliments are fine, also creatine, but not anabolic steroids, such as pinning testosterone. I've learned to spot a physique that is natty, (natural) as opposed to droided up. It's a bad scene. All upper body growth, young men go bald early, their jaw can grow forward, it wrecks the joints, and can cause brain cancer, and organ failure. Some think milk thistle cleans the blood and body of the steroids, It can help, but doesn't do enough.
A friend of ours almost lost his marriage because of it. He was overly aggressive a lot. Another local guy has just been charged in the assault of his girlfriend from Roid Rage.
Athlean AX is a good youtube tutorial, and Jeff Cavalier has many free videos there. He trains pro-sports players. You also need to know how to correclty kift and do excercises to protect yoyr back, knees, and shoulders. You won't be able to do much with a torn rotator cuff.
It's not about being the biggest muscle guy, and more about health. Our ego and self esteem should come from within, not only superficial body image.
Sorry for rambling, but just felt like helping before the yummy!!! holidays are here!
Peace all!
