Well, my wife started a load this morning in our Fisher Paykel GWL15. After a while I heard a strange noise coming from it. It was working, although quite slowly, and was making a buzzing sound. Something wasn't right.

So I told my wife I'd transfer the cloths to the good old Maytag A9700 which I keep as a spare in the garage. I did that and ended up running two loads in it. And when I saw how much she had loaded into the FP, I knew what the problem was, she'd overloaded the machine. So I ran a load in the FP and it worked just fine. No service needed, and we learned something about the FP, don't overload the thing! (at least I hope she learned it)

Ain't it nice to have a good back-up though - it just takes the pressure off when something does go wrong.

My mom tried to wash a polyester king size comforter in our GWL11 on the heavy duty cycle and ended up both burning out the computer and melting the tub ring! She left washing odd things like that up to me from then on! lol

Jamie, that's a different situation. The comforter floated/billowed up and rubbed on the tub ring during spin. Don't know why the motor board would burn out, though.

My IWL12 has a special Comforter cycle preset for high water level, moderate agitation, and two deep rinses with no spin before/between. After the last rinse drains, it stops and beeps with a message on the display advising to press the item down to the medium-high water level mark, doesn't run the final spin until Start is pressed to continue.
