A Generous friend and a Hotpoint Next Gen Washer

Hi all...

A friend is kindly giving me a Hotpoint 951* series machine and just wanted to now the basics.

Does the timer buzz when filling/draining?
Does the drum have the thick rim?

It has 3 minor problems

Slight rusting
Dodgy door interlock
Dial come of the fascia

Apparently the door WON'T OPEN! So I need to know how to fix this problem!

Anyway help would be much appreciated

Hi Dan,

Right, if it was one of the first vogue of Next Generations then it might have a buzzing interlock. The same goes for the drum as the 5.5 kg drum came in 1988. The dial should be available as a spare. Depending on the type of interlock used there will be a way to open the door. If it has a pecker interlock like most Next Generations then all that is required is a tug of the cable. If it used the electric interlock then there should be a manual override in it, probably just a matter of slding something on it.

BUT, apparently my friend can remember the rim being thicker on the drum. The door lock will be the same though.
