Hi all, I back from my 3 week expedition of hauling most of our stuff back east and putting it in storage, doing some house hunting etc. No problems on the long haul, I lucked out and got a near brand new Uhaul 26 footer on its second trip having just come up from Arizona. Looked at quite a few houses, some in town, some on little acreages but it's going to have to wait till the end of the month when we're outta here and back there permanently, albeit living at my moms till just the right place shows up. I began having second thoughts though after that heat wave. I haven't sweated so much for so long in decades. I find it almost unbearable, too hot and muggy to even go sit on the beach. Had a pretty nice time though, helped sister paint her diningroom, put a new digital Tstat in moms house (couldn't find a Honeywell digital roundie for some reason so had to settle for their square one). My second day I pop into a junk store downtown and spot a blue Connie in pretty good shape but it was sooo hot out I didn't feel like carting it a few blocks back to the car so I figured I'd go back for it in a couple of days. After all, who in such a small place is gonna want it.. well it was gone when I returned!!!!! The only sad part of the trip was that my closest and dearest friend, a woman whom I used to babysit for when I was 15 took ill a few days before I left and was rushed to hospital. I spent quite a few days with her in the hospital although she was by then comatose and she passed away on the day I was leaving. To top that off I flew into Toronto to catch my flight home, got on the jet, we taxi'd to the runway and sat there for 3.5 hours because of a bad storm, then they canceled the flight for lack of fuel by the time the worst was over.
So we now have til the 15th of this month to get all the rest of the stuff packed or tossed out and I get to repeat the long arduous drive once again.
So that's pretty much all that's been happening..got lots of reading to do.

Pete, I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. Sounds like you're well in the process with your move and I hope things go well as you finish up, and won't have have to take too long to find a house. I wonder if someone had seen that new Constellation, then saw the one in the thrift store and thought, "oh, cool!" LOL Take good care and keep us posted!

Oh.. I forgot to mention one of the things I did find and get. A circa 1915 Pneu-Vac in as near new looking condition as you're going to find!!!!! I was poking thru an antique mall and was purchasing a small Venetian glass dish when I spotted it sitting a few feet away from the register on the way out. Before I looked at the price tag I was figuring they would be wanting too much for it but it was only $40 so it's mine now LOL
What's a Pneu-Vac.. well it's a wooden Bissell type carpet sweeper only larger and more boxy. About the size of one and a half shoe boxes side by side. When you push it back and forth on the floor the brushroll turns just like a regular carpet sweeper but there's also another large drum wheel on the back that turns and operates bellows inside the machine to create some suction for the nozzle on the front. The brushroll etc part of it works perfectly and isn't missing any brushes but I haven't taken it apart yet to see if the bellows inside are torn or disintegrated. Will be a miracle if they're not, but it seems to work as a carpet sweeper. I haven't any pictures yet, that'll have to wait till we're settled in the new house.

Monday is our last day in this house and we'll be hitting the road on Tuesday morning. The last two days have been abysmal cleaning out the basement and worse yet the garage. Almost 4000 pounds worth of stuff we took to the dump today and there's still bits and pieces laying around. Naturally as we were heading to the dump a huge thunderstorm blew in just to make that chore even more pleasurable. I'll be so glad to get out of here!!!!
