A very good friend of mine picked up an early 60s Montgomery Ward Signature wringer washing machine for me, complete with user manual. The machine is in mint condition and will be arriving this Saturday! Photos to follow.

Our beloved Montgomery Ward topload impeller dishwasher pooped the bed last week (the GSD1250 is now in its place, so that's okay). Tonight, our equally beloved Wards top-loader finished the cycle at 10:00 PM with a full load of clothes and hot water in it. Mysteriously, the timer had advanced...

Signature Arrived — Not so Mint…
So my friend delivered my new addition. He had it on a little flatbed trailer and unfortunately didn’t have it secured well enough and it fell off the trailer at 55mph. Thankfully he had it wrapped up in moving blankets so limited damage…except the wringer. Will have to see if that can be salvaged. Good news is minimal damage to the finish, and I plugged it in and it works! Need to replace the hose and will try a water test soon.

That’s too bad about the accident during transport. Hopefully you can get everything fixed up and it will be wringing clothes for you in no time.
Wow!!! I hope you can get it up and running very soon, and get the wringer fixed. I did not know wringer washers had lint filters, that’s new to me. I’m wondering how it works.

The filter works by placing the tub lid so that a hole in it is positioned over the filter, then putting the drain hose into that hole and turning on the pump to provide recirculation. Whirlpool/Kenmore and probably others had models that worked similarly.

Hi Todd. Congrats on your new addition. I have the same machine machine in my collection. I bought it 20 years for 65.00 from an appliance dealership. Missing the filter but do have an owners manual close to yours. I think my model is a little newer than yours. She runs beautifully. I also have the tabletop model that has the plunger that came out about the same timer.your wringer doesn't look that bad hoping you'll have it back together soon.[this post was last edited: 4/8/2022-13:16]
