According to quikipedia research, Tide killed Rinso shortly after WW2, though I remember TV commercials from early 50s.

Rinso is the #1 detergent in Indonesia. Whoop!

Our local dollar store carries Rinso laundry detergent. The box is in English. I didn't look to see where it was made at.

...only disappeared from out market in the mid 1980's. Levers really didn't need 4 detergents - Drive, Omo, Rinso and Surf...

 

My mother still misses it....
