MAYTAG SHOULD BE COMMENDED, I'D SAY

Maytag, acquired by Whirlpool in March, was slow to move production to lower-cost countries and improve the efficiency of its U.S. factories amid competition from makers in China and South Korea. Its hometown Newton plant was running at 40 percent of capacity.
Too bad we don't have indexes with publically held companies such as showing:
% domestic production
Jobs created per $100k Gross Income
Charity $s per $100k Gross Income
$ spent in ecological pusuits
$ spent in energy-saving OPERATIONAL pursuits.
$ spent on the local community.
Top 20 salaries in the company.
And force each commpany to stick THIS yellow label on EVERY product.
As a Society we CAN be re-trained to look for what is important LONG-TERM in the way a company runs itself.
