Over the weekend I went to Milwaukee to visit my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew. While there I thought I would check out a couple of the Mexican markets in their area. I picked up 6 850g bags of Viva, 1 3kg bag of Ace ActifBlu, and 1 2.4kg bag of Ariel Oxi Azul Max w/ Downy. I also snagged the usual detergents, Roma, reg. Ariel Oxi Azul Max, and Foca. I still am on the hunt for more Lavender Viva, makes my bedsheets smell wonderful. I finally got brave enough to buy a bottle of Ensueno fabric softener, Summer Fresh fragrance, as well. This should keep me supplied for awhile.

Beware of suds! *I wonder where the yellow went?*

Sounds good!

To ger similar results try some STPP (Sodium tri-poly phospate) in with American detergents.

TheChemistryStore.com

I'm hooked; and my whites would now win any "My whites are whiter than yours" 1950's style contest! And these are items I would have had to throw out from the yellowness.

I like Ariel best of the Mexican detergents, but Ace Acti-Blu is great (love the lime scent) and Viva has a great (if strong) scent, too.

Haven't tried the Ariel w/ Downy; let us know what you think of it. I've always thought detergents with softeners weren't very good, for whatever reasons---probably CR reports, come to think of it.

I'm in the process of radically downsizing my detergent stash. In the end, the detergents I use the most are

Tide With Bleach Alternative (liquid)
SA8 (powder)
Ariel (powder)
Woolite For Dark Colors
Tide HE (liquid)
Tide Coldwater (powder)

Got tired of dealing with a dozen containers of detergent, most of which didn't clean as well as the above-mentioned.

Also found that SA8 combined with Clorox is unbeatable for stain removal. Like it even better than SA8+Tri-Zyme+SA8 All-Fabric Bleach. And it's a lot cheaper than using the other Quixtar products, too.

I only have 2 Mexican detergents in use at any one time. The Ariel w/ Downy has a strong scent, even through the plastic bag. I can only imagine how it will "smell" up the laundry. lol My fave is still Viva. I try not to get too carried away when measuring detergent, haven't had any trouble w/ oversudsing yet. We have a toploading '98 Maytag, so it's not much of a problem.

I also spied liquid Foca over the weekend. The label said it was biological & biodegradable. Didn't buy any as I didn't want to be disappointed by it's possible ho-hum performance.
