Lee, I reached that conclusion decades ago and it pains me to see that something has happened to cause you to reach it because it is never a pleasant learning experience. Unfortunately, there is no way of separating those who are looking for Mr. Right from those just looking for Mr. Right Now. It's the difference between preparing the foundation for a patio and just looking for a folding lawn chair. Sorry man.
The other thing I learned back in the 80s is that anyone you love is a hostage to fate and can be snatched away in an instant.

I have been there giving 110% for just a friend, and then when they return the favor, they claim its a 110% returned......BUT why did it only feel like 3%...?

Yep, pretty much canned a childhood friend of 23 years. We were pretty much inseparable, but I became that mere option. Took him a year and 2 months of zero communication to become concerned enough to stop by my house. He works 2 miles away and comes within less than a half a mile away from my house on his way home.
