Hi everybody - so I've moved from NYC and am recooperating in my home town of Wilkes-Barre, PA. I've already informed my parents I'd be making room in the basement to bring home some old machines and restore them. I remembered an old appliance parts shop from when I was in high school and decided to see if it was still there. He had all sorts of old agitators and stuff in the windows but this was 10 years ago. I drove up N. Main street and it not olny was there but after all these years has been closed and the parts still remain right where I remember them. But, since being a member of this club, I've had such a renewed appreciation that looking into those windows was like a kid at christmas! It looks like I'll finally get my 70's filter flo as early as next week! - he has an old one just sitting in the middle of the floor - he also has just about any other part imaginable. But the store being closed I thought this was almost a tease. Then I found on the bottom of the door an old sign that was faded but still readable that said - "for parts inquiries call..." and i did and the old man lives upstairs - he said he was sick this week and to call next week and he can help me with whatever i wanted and was glad to have someone interrested. I was thrilled! - I'm charging my camera batteries but will go down tomorrow and take a bunch of pics - wait till you all see - Agitators, drain hoses, filter flo pans galore - parts froom every brand, make and model all in the window and i haven't even see the inside of the shop yet! From what i can see its packed to the gills! I'm so excited - I hope I will be able to take a quick inventory and tell this guy about this group - I bet he has parts that all of us can use - I'll keep everyone posted!

Pics to come!

woo- hoo - christmas came early!

That sounds great! Maybe we can help the guy out some. I bet he would be thrilled to hear about our appliance hobbies and stuff... If he's interested, maybe he could come to a wash-in sometime and take a look at some of the vintage machines he probably remembers selling new.

Activators galore!

YOU GO BOI!

Of course NYC will not be the same without you, but already you are where you need to be and good things are coming.

Don't forget us here and you always have a place to crash by me. I myself will be moving again soon and may be back in NYC by spring.

Can't wait to see pics of all your conquests and finds.

Rregards,
Steve

That is a wonderful that the things are still there. Is it on Lackawanna Avenue? I am somwhat fimiliar with Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. I used to Live in PA in the early 80's. Yes, by all means, keep all of us posted, some of the members could use all types of parts to make a perfect machine and some only one part could make a working machine!

Wilkes Barre PA?

Hey Matt, I did not know you were from Wilkes Barre. I was born there in Mercy Hospital. We lived in the next town over in Plymouth on Highway 11 which was called Main Street. WE moved when I was around 3 years old. Those areas were heavily populated with Polish people when I was young. I am also Polish. What area in Wilkes Barre are you living.

Take Care, Ray

Wow!!! Congratulations Matt...maybe he even has a Dispensall!!

I noticed some goodies in the 3rd picture...a few Hoover Convertibles, Kirby accessories, lots of literature and NOS parts, and what looks like part of a Coppertone Whirlpool Convertible Washer, the 12 lb. version. Could also be a dishwasher though...but since that knob on the right isn't a timer, I highly doubt it!

WOW!!! That IS a 12 lb. Whirlpool Convertible Washer!!! You definitely need to get that one!

This place is certainly a gold mine!

Hi Austin!

Yes I just noticed the lid onthe Whirlpool washer too - I will try annd get it also!
And theres alot more pics so sit tight - unfortunately at myparents house there is only dial up - so get a soda and get comfy!

And Yes- I'm sooo praying for a Dispensall!

Matt

I'm in shock...a Frigidaire Deep Action agitator is always a good sign that there's something better lurking behind the scenes!!!

Very nice--can't wait to see more!

Right now I'm off to do a few more Wash-N-Wear loads...complete with the agitate/fill PP cooldown!
