Ordered two DVD's from Aachen Auto-showing the "stars" of their junkyard-the "EZ-Crush" car crusher and the "anonymous" forklift driver. The programs are "Crushing cars-the movie"and "Girls crushing cars"In watching the first moive-the machine is kinda interesting to watch-the cycle is automatic!all it takes is a button press on the control panel on the machine-or a RF remote control-probably used by the lift driver in most of the demenstrations. As the unit operates you can see the Hydrualic control levers move. They can be moved by hand if desired for your own"crush" cycle. They also show a TV being crushed-while its playing-and a fridge-couldn't tell what brand-was on its back. You can order the videos from their website-or watch some of them there.

The oldest cars they crushed in the crusher were 1976 and 1980's.Some of these older cars had bad body "cancer"rusted thru. That should be easy to crush. They show a car being crushed sideways in the unit-would present more of a challenge-since it has to crush the heavier guage steel frame.Since older cars-1940-1960's are made of heavier guage STEEL-not plastic or aluminum-and thicker steel frames-bet they would have to have a higher horsepower motor on the crusher.Would be VERY DIFFICULT for that unit to crunch an older car "sideways"The crushers of today are a bit diffrent than those of older times-older crushers were considerably more powerful-1,000Hp or more engines-motors-these would crush the car into a bale the size of a coffee table-this was so the bale could be dropped into the hearth of an older steel melting furnace-the "EZ-Crush"was designed to crush cars -not bale them so the crushed car could be fed to an auto shredder.then the shreddings(ASR)could be fed into a more modern electric arc furnace-the ASR its easier to separate the plastic-rubber,etc from the steel.Years and years ago saw one of those "bailer" type crushers-crushed in three dimensions-both sides-than endwise. They show one on the James Bond movie-"Goldfinger"
