Hi Guys,

Whilst looking through some urban explorers videos on YouTube today I found this one of a small house in an unknown state of the U.S. It literally looks as if someone just up and left one day leaving everything behind including everything in the cupboards just about and their appliances.

I will let the video speak for itself but this home seems very much in a 70's/80's time warp, complete with Hoover Twin Tub in the bathroom :-)

It looks too clean. I have been in houses that have stood empty for years and they are full of dust and cobwebs. Nice twintub!

Downtown Phoenix

Good one Todd!

If it weren't for the stubby mountains, I'd have said Desert Hot Springs.

I'm surprised they didn't find a weapons stockpile and a manifesto.

wow

Would be interesting to find out where it is.... there were homes about 100 miles from me at LOVE CANAL that were left like that, due to contamination from the Hooker Chemical Plant... it was seeping in basements, and in drinking water I think the place was built over where all the chemicals were buried in drums that rusted and started leaking, Lots of kids etc were developing weird cancers and birth defects. Anyone on this site from Buffalo might have more info....

No

Not abandoned. Elderly owner must have passed away. The state or airs are inspecting for clean out. Or maybe some neighbors broke in to see knowing the person id dead or institutionalized. The older people get, the less inclined they are to replace things that are still serviceable.

the explorer shown in the video is in the SW area of the US-California,AZ and such. That same man explores other abandoned buildings-usually in a desert-and mines.Hope he is CAREFUL in those mines and tells someone else on the surface where he and his partner are!!That same person repairs radios and TVs he has some excellent videos on his repairs.Only one I now know of that still works on traditional TV's.He gets sets sent to him to fix.

Think I have an idea where that abandoned building they explored is-one of the Calif deserts?VOA used to have a transmitter plant in Delano,Calif-a desert area. The joke was from a man that used to work there--you could leave a screwdriver in the towerfeild for a year and it would be like new.Leave that same screwdriver out in the towerfeild in Greenville, all you would have after that year is the handle!!The blade would be corroded away.So goods in an abandoned building should last a good long time.

I saw this video a while back, and what a cool little house it is. There is three frigs crammed into that small space. There is another 1950s frig all the way to the back of the closet.

In another of his videos, they drive into L.A., Santa Monica I think, just to pick up an old T.V. They filmed the TV at first, then ask if they can tour the mostly vacant house and video it.

The people were giving (or selling) the TV because the person living in the 1910s era house passed away, and they were clearing the almost all original house out to sell it. Considering the age of the house it was in amazingly original condition. All I could think was, you just know some douche-bag is going to buy this and rip out all the original stuff that gives it it's charm. Fans of originally appointed houses should check out that video.

Great house and TV!!!You just don't find TV's like that in my area-if so-they were in the shed-and cabinet rotted away-chassis corroded away, too. That house is amazing!!Whats with the wind up clock and thermostat?Clock timer thermostat of some sort?Yes,LEAVE that house as is-just do some painting and fixing--THATS IT!!!!The Drainboard-farm type kitchen sink is common in older homes out here. They are kind of useful.Good video and the set is restorable.
