The older teens brother (Love) is a friend of mine, so I know about the parents in this case. These kids raised themselves in the streets and grew up way too fast. I hate that this had to happen. It breaks my heart for the victims family. It also breaks my heart to see some of these kids turn out so hardened. Nobody wins in a case such as this. Everyone involved looses no matter what.

Wenger was trying to purchase crack from them, then threatened them with calling the police because the "stuff" was fake or so he thought. At any rate, Brown, (13 year old) had a gun, and Josh Love used it to shoot Wenger in the head, after he threatened them with the police.

It was very foolish for Wenger to mess with these guys in the first place. These kids are gang members and they can become very violent. The second mistake Wenger made was to threaten them on the street. It is horrible that he lost his life this way, but what he did was a very foolish thing. I know for a fact there was pressure put on witnesses to get them to "talk right" even though it did not work. People do not seem to understand how deeply involved these kids are. You just don't make threats about calling the police after trying to "deal" with them like that.

As I said before, nobody really "wins" in a case like this. And what kind of parents these kids have had is unreal. They may have been better off with no parents at all.
