I have an 18" Kenmore Model 587.712611.

The tub leaks where it meets the plastic retainer atop the motor housing (finger point in picture).

There's also a slower leak at the lower spray port but the mechanism is functioning.

I would like to remove these components, clean the mating surfaces well if they are intact, apply red heat resistant liquid gasket and bolt it back together again.

Do you think my plan could succeed?

Also, if you have any pointers:
- door appears to be misaligned
- extending feet are intact but do not extend
- is there supposed to be a particle screen or something over the well inside the tub? The motor housing and pump intakes are completely open.
- other maintenance, lubrication tips or other troublesome parts to replace while I've got it apart?

I'm working on removing the scale too.

Thanks in advance!

Johnny

I don't think RTV or whatever liquid gasketing material would be a bad idea. Give it a whirl, might be hard to take apart in the future though haha!
