Aeg left brown marks all over my whites

Hey all

I used my mum's 5 year old aeg yesterday to do a few towels, sheets. When the cycle had finished there were brown smears all over the sheets and on the towels was a brown imprint of the drum.

Is this grease that's come from inside the machine?

Its not grease......

But quite possibly rust

Has it got noisier by chance as id guess the bearings are on their way out??

I know it went into an un balanced spin on the final spin. Don't think it's any noiser than usual. Do you think water's got into the bearings? X

Brown marks

Brown marks on clothes are usually a sign of bearing problems ie grease coming out.

Try doing a cleaning cycle in your machine.

it can be a dead bearing or just a dity tub.

Run the longest cycle without pre wash or clothes and pour a bottle (1 litre) of chlorine bleach in the drawer while it fills.

Do you wash with

a detergent without phosphates? I've heard that we you do, and you have those brown spots, it has something to do with you detergent... or there is a nail, paperclip or something else between the tub and drum and it's rusting...

Low temperature washes can cause marks on clothes. Could it be the out of balance load caused some of the outer drum residue to dislodge and come into contact with the clothes?.
