This is not a classic AGA, more like a regular stove. It's not on all the time.

Dual fuel (gas/electric) Aga "Legacy" range. One can tell because this range lacks a chimney.

As for the solid fuel or otherwise always on, people either love or hate them.

Right now with high energy costs in UK unless one is burning coal or other solid fuel Aga and similar ranges are being pulled out (no easy feat).

Rayburn ranges are probably closest to what many British households had of old. Thing will not just heat one's kitchen area, cook and bake, but also supply hot water for heating several radiators and or domestic hot water.
