ALDI, Save-A-Lot, and . . . ?

Fresh & Easy's gone while Trader Joe's soldiers on and Whole Foods Market tries to lure thrifty shoppers with 365, but mostly near middle-upscale suburbs.

Among meat-n-potatoes limited-selection neighborhood markets aimed squarely at the middle class, what comes after ALDI and Save-A-Lot? Are there regional BYOB&BIY (Bring Your Own Bags and Bag It Yourself) mini-mart grocers out there?

Chime in, proud cheapskates of the world!

are there any Turkey Hill stores out there? They are small shops. That's Kroger, as is Raph's, Von's, and now Smith's also in Phoenix. Walmart is testing some mini marts in certain areas.
Aldi is the only box your own store here. Costco is always buisy. Largest, and tastiest rotisserie chickens there are period, regardless of what you see on youtube! Sams Club is always full of small store owners shopping. We have a lot of those, but they aren't always clean, or competitively priced. They shop all over filling cart after cart of what ever is on sale. Soda pop, water, cases of it, and condiments. They mark it up in their own stores.
I've seen a few using govt. ebt cards buying by the case with them. Do the math.
Either they have a store, restaurant, or cater out of their houses. nobody uses that much mayonaise, ketchup, relish, or mustard.
So you have Albertson's, and Safeway also.

Is there something wrong with that? Are you talking about the club? Or are you talking about the people who buy at Sam's Club? Sam's Clubs premise is marketing to the small business owner just as the Smart & Final stores, Cash & Carry stores here in the NW do, albeit a step or two above wholesale.. It's how Costco came about,too! Costco started out being for the business community only and still has many "business only" warehouses in the US. Costco even originally opened one hour early for "business" members only and then to the general public. But originally, you had to belong to, be employed or have a connection to use as a reference to going Costco. My membership # is in the first 6,000 to join as my late Father was a vice president of Boeing. I still have lots of stock!

Finally, once again. Von's is part of the Safeway, now Albertsons, etc... chain. It has never been a Kroger brand.
