Classic film fans take note: Universal Studios is releasing Paramount's 1933 "Alice in Wonderland" on DVD today, March 2. This film stars Charlotte Henry as Alice, Gary Cooper as the White Knight, Cary Grant as the Mock Turtle, W.C. Fields as Humpty-Dumpty, Louise Fazenda as the White Queen, and Edward Everett Horton as the Mad Hatter. This is the first time this rarely seen picture has been released on home video.

I remember seeing this on TV when I was about 5 or 6, and it's the only version I enjoy seeing. I've always liked the beginning with Alice in the house, looking out at the snow falling, then falling through the mirror. Wonderland in this version is much more bizarre than in the later Disney film. It's a treat to see.
