I have an Amana frig on the blink. What's happening is the freezer section is freezing but the frig is warm. When the compressor kicks on,the freezer chills but no flowing air comes through to cool the refrigerator. Fortunatel,I have a back up. The same as the broken one you.but not as big. Any info on parts needed is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Mildly dumb, but utterly sincere questions:

Are the vent ports between sections unobstructed? Is there any damper mechanism that might be sticking?

Just my dos centavos.

Mine did the same thing.

The fan that blows air from the freezer to the fridge has probably stopped.
Check for loose screws that cause the motor to move out of position, stalling the fan blade. That's what happened to ours.
Or the motor could be faulty.

The damper has some kind of blockage. Charlie from Smith's told me to remove the cover in the back of the frig interior top shelf. There was an exact same model in his trash pile so, I looked at its damper and saw a small spring,a rectangular piece of styrofoam and a metal curled thermostat. After seeing what was there, I am wondering if I can use a Rainbow Vacuum to blow air through or suck air through to remove blockage.I've had at least ten of these over the decades but, this is the only one I ever had any issues with.Charlie said a new damper replacement would cost around $100.
