Well, I guess Canadian General Electric tried to make it similar to the US Americana but they didn't have all the necessary parts to do it!
Many Canadian GE 30" ranges had 3 6" burners and a single 8" but some did have two 8" burners. I can't tell why this model didn't have them but it seems they used the cooking surface from the smaller ranges to allow some space for the controls on the sides... And having the burners more narrowly spaced made it look more like the US Americana.
Talisman was the top-of-the-line series in Canada. Later it was Talisman Royale.
Here are two Canadian 30" GE ranges from the 1960s, neither are top-of-the-line but the first one does have two 8" burners, the badge from a 1965 Talisman refrigerator that a friend of mine has and two ads for 30" Canadian ranges that also have just a single 8" burner. One of them is the first self-cleaning model from 1966.
