Being a holiday weekend, there were not that many estate sales today, but I did manage to go out to a few and look what $6 bought me today, oh Jon...

Wow; I probably need to go up to Minne and check out the sales! That's a beauty for only $6! You would probably scream if you saw what Texas garage/estate sales have...overpriced crap is the only way to describe it. Sad. Like I've said many times, people were/are capital C-H-E-A-P here, which, after desperate attempts, explains why I haven't been able to find a single Frigidaire 1-18...

I looked at the Yahoo "estatesale1" album and the "First BD Whirlpool of the day" looked near-mint inside and out. Wonderful, as well as that '67 Kenmore 70! I would have taken both of 'em!

Its not easy to find a Vita Mix

Robert and I drove 200 miles across Iowa to find a Vita Mix and the people in the town of Casey were shocked we made it thru Des Moines in one piece becuase it is SOOOOO CROWDED THERE! A Direct Quote. Robert didn't have the heart to tell them we came from the Mighty Prarie City of Minneapolis!!

I noticed this machine has no handles on the base; I think it's more attractive without them anyway considering the previous base-handles made it look UGLY in my opinion...

Handles on Vita-Mix motor base

In looking at the picture you see the screws for mounting the handles.Did that model have handles-or could the former owner removed them. I do like the look better W/O the handles.Plus takes up less space on a crowded counter. The machine is in like new condition-like it was never used.So far I have only run into two Vita Mix machines at yard sales. Both 3600.The only one that I knew fo that had all of the machines was Vita-Mix itself. They have a museam of their previous mixers and products. It is at their factory location.(old main plant)-least what their rep told me.That would be quite an accomplishment to have an example of each machine they built.
Oh yea-the new format is GREAT!

I've caught the vision too!

That is a beauty Robert. I got a Vita Mix 3600 about a week ago on Ebay. After enjoying all the treats Jon and Greg made for us I had to have one. Also got some of the Whole Nectar protien mix and have made lots of smoothies. I really like the design of the Vita Mix you found. Terry

Yay for Vita-Mix

Hi Terry, yes now that Jon has turned me onto the new vintage Vita-Mix craze I've been having fruit smoothies every morning. An apple, orange, grapes, strawberries, carrot, yogurt etc all mixed together into a cool drink tastes much better than I ever would have imagined. Much healthier than bacon in the morning :)

classic 3600 owner here!

Mango, strawberries, a dash of milk, vanilla and ice - wonderful summer drink and a great breakfast in the morning when Whole Nectar protein powder is added. Have you tried it? It's great, I have it in my smoothie in the morning and I'm not hungry again until late afternoon. Check out the website - they have some great recipes too!

I think Jon (jetcone) should be on salary from Vita-Mix! He's a great evangelist!!

I'll second that one Greg! Jon should be on the Vita Mix pay-roll. I like to use 1 fresh peach, a scoop, a good tablespoon of peach yogurt, splash of milk, 2 large ice cubes and a drop of almond extract, 2-3 tablespoons Whole Nectar. enjoy Terry
No need to peel the peach, just wash and remove pit!

I use the mint in my Choco-banana smoothie-milkshakes I fix for breakfast. If you use ripe bananas-sweetened coca isn't necessary. No need for the sugar. That Whole Nectar shown in Gansky's link sounds good.-and sounds really good for you!

The almond really is good Greg, seems to compliment the peach very nicely. Never thought of mint but will have to give that one a try sometime. The Whole Nectar is really great, gives the smoothie a nice substance that seems to stay with me through out the morning.

Six Bucks?!?!

The cheapest VitaMix I've seen was $90 at a flea market. Wow, some people have all the luck! I paid $1 for my circa '67 Waring--nowhere near the same power as a VitaMix, but it does whip up those banana-mint smoothies that got me through the long hot summer.
