A big thanks goes out to Jetcone Jon who recently uncovered some great Norge service manuals from when they introduced their newly redesigned, perforated tub washers. These are wonderful training guides given out in classes to train servicers on their new machines.

The 1964 manual is included, this is the training guide they first produced for their newly redesigned large-capacity, perforated tub Norge and Wards washers. They refer to the large-capacity machines as "Plus-Capacity".

The 1965 the Solid-tub Washer Training Guide. For about four years Norge produced both their large-capacity and standard capacity machines, until about 1968 when they discontinued their standard capacity/solid tub washers.

So Bob now we know what your infamous childhood Norge washer, that you've spoke of many times over the years, looks like! Yay.

It looks like it was nearly the Top of the Line.

Robert, it was TOL. The cursive writing to the left of the big timer dial display was the word DispensoMat. and that was the "newest" Norge and last time I saw that designation. The next year VHQ insignia took over. The comparable location on the dryer, the wording was Wrinkle-Out. There are subtle differences between tis model and the extremely similar POD (which has a copyright of 1963), which I will not post here, although I wish I could to point out the differences. The Kenmore 800 is what replaced this washer. the washer arrived December 23 1964 and the dryer arrived around Valentine's day 1965. The Norge TimeLine dryer served its function I those weeks inbetween when the new dryer arrived. One 15 pound wash load was done and two loads were then dried. My mom never used either automatic dry cycles, only timed. And despite the 50% increase in dryer load size once the new dryer arrived, my mom still held fast to the rule that timer was set for 45 minutes of drying and that was it. What was not dried in that time, was draped around the house over sofas, lap shades and what have you (I kid you not)_ in order for all the garments to dry (usually towels). She didn't like the automatic dry cycles because they ran too long. I ONLY used the automatic dry cycles. However when I was doing the laundry, she knew not to pull the controlling mother routine for drying. Wash? Yes, almost always full loads even when sorted. And remember, our neighbor across the street had the Monkey Wards Imperial washer like Fred found a few years ago you have videoed. That washer arrived at their house sometime fall or summer prior to our Norge arriving in December.
