Any help from Chicago Members? I Bought an A806 pair and can't pick up!

On Sunday, I bought a Maytag A806/DE806 set on eBay in the Chicago area with the intent to get them up myself with my pickup (I live in Chattanooga, but it's a suds saver set in good condition and the are rare here).

The next day I tore a ligament in my knee and can't get out of bed. Local friends can't help because of other obligations.

I have two questions:

<li>Is there anybody in the Chicago area that can pick these up and babysit them until I can make PROMPT arrangements for transport to Chattanooga? I am happy to compensate you.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Is there anybody who can recommend a moving service that they've used recently that can do this move at a reasonable price?</li>
</ul>
If I can't get this sorted out by Friday, I will have to contact the seller and ask to back out of the deal.

I can't help you with your unfortunate issue but have to say that is an awesome set. I had been admiring it on eBay a few days ago.

Suggestion

Put up the request on U-Ship, you never know. Someone may be heading down your way from Chicago and willing to move the set at a good rate. It cost nothing to list so why not? Better to consider all options rather than risk losing the set to a seller that won't wait.

I would call transit Systems they have moved 3 machines for me and have been great.They just moved a Bendix duomatic for me cross country and brought it undamaged.

Reached out to Transit Systems for a quote to have that Simplex ironer shifted from Iowa to New York. They came in much higher than most bids from U-Ship. But then again was trying to keep cost down (under $300), and most quotes from US were at $400 to $500 and over. TS came in around $500 or so IIRC. Just checked my Inbox and long since deleted their responses.

TS was great in terms of follow-up and would have used them if could have swung the cost, but things didn't work out.

Moving MTs

I would try the U Ship idea, but it might take a week or so, if possible work out a deal with the seller to keep the machines longer by agreeing to pay them $25 a day storage till the shipper shows up.

The seller of those is a very well respected TV collector.  Have you contacted him and explained your situation?  Most times, if you show you're working for a solution, the seller will work with you.

 

On the other hand, an ebay buyer bought a tv from me last weekend.  He paid.  I sent him an email asking him to let me know when he would pick it up.  So far, I have nothing.

I've just contacted the seller to ask to be let out of the transaction, with compensation to him for relisting and nuisance fees.

 

I had intended to do this on the cheap with me and my pick up but my knee gave out on Monday while going down my stairs.  This is the third time this has happened and my doctor is strongly recommending a chair lift, which is being installed on Friday.

 

Candidly, it's the cost of the lift that's prevented even considering a professional move.  This is irking me a lot: I've been in bed for several days now and have had lots of time to think about this.  I never wanted an "open end" collection: the 806 with Suds Saver was actually going to be my last acquisition.  I suppose that will have to wait now.

Well they are relisted

Seller has added machines *must* be collected by 26 June 2016. So anyone considering making that move should have his ducks in a row as that isn't very much time. Auction ends Wednesday next, and things must be collected by that Sunday (26th).
