I snapped some shots of a cardinal perched in a bush along my drive way this morning. The small amount of snow in the background was just the right amount.
I suspect there will be plenty more snow photos in the next day....

Pete, that is so odd! We had a whole brood at the house in Ogden since we moved in, then in September, the whole bunch seemed to vanish! Must try and find out why a Northern Cardinal would decide to move - they are pretty territorial...

Northern Indiana just has a few flakes of snow, supposed to gey windy and wet tonight and tomorrow.

We got a little ice this morning. It warmed up to above freezing, so now it's just drizzle.
In the northern part of the state, I'm sure they got/are getting snow.

It's been snowing here almost all day. It was snowing when I went to work this morning at 3, and it was still snowing when I left work at 9. We could receive anywhere from 10 to 14 inches. Right now it sounds like we are getting either sleet or freezing rain.
Yay for the first our winter storm warning of the season
18 degrees and the light powdery snow is starting to fall and blow hard! We foretasted to get 7" to 10" here downtown overnight and into tomorrow. I just tested the snow blower yesterday he started right up, ready to go.

I'm really not sure what the total is right now - guessing around 3 to 4 inches. It is supposed to keep dumping all night long. Love snow storms - great excuses to punch it a little in the Tahoe!
Come morning I have a feeling things will look much different.

I'm in the same city Ben is, and he's right, there's about four inches out there. It's supposed to be about a foot by tomorrow.
This is my first Midwestern snow since I moved here from Georgia, and I'm a little surprised at the difference between snow here and snow there. In Georgia, it usually falls in big fat fluffy flakes, and not for too long. Here, it's much finer flakes, very tiny, but they're very persistent and it accumulates pretty quickly.
One thing I don't miss about Georgia snow - the drama on TV weathercasts. Glenn Burns on WSB can turn a snow flurry into 36 hours of capering and gibbering; he acts like the love child of Richard Simmons and Bette Davis. Here, it's just snow and it's part of the weather and you need to be careful out there, is all. As it should be.

Heve you noticed that "snow storms" no longer happen? It's now a "snow event".
It absolutley amazes me that people freak out that that may have to stay at home for a day or two, should the roads be absolutely awful. Intresting too is the hoardng that preceeds a "snow event" Lawd forbid anyone in this country should be witout any small item for day or two JEEEZ!
Doesn't the masses' REGULAR hoarding cover food needs? LOL.
What amazes me is that we are all basically dependant on electricity to control (or power) our heating systme and in a major balckout due to a storm, very few seem to have a non-electric source of heat (like a fireplace, a woodstove or a gas burner or oil-burner that will actually operate) or perhaps even a generator.

The lady in the photo is the legendary Marilyn Turner of Detroit's WXYZ-TV. Looks like around 1975.

It's a bona-fide "first snowstorm of the season" here in rural southwest Minnesota. The area schools dismissed around noon, and all evening bingo games, Kiwanis meetings, American Lutheran Church Christmas pageant practices, quilting club activities, and a girls basketball game have all been cancelled. It's not bad getting around in town (read: both bars are staying open for the town-dwellers), but drive a mile into the country and it's a total white-out.
I just came in from blowing out the driveway. We only have about 4 inches of snow on the ground, but the winds have picked up, and blowing it out tonight will make an easier job of it tomorrow morning.

Sandy, I'd forgotten you've joined us in the wonderful (and I mean that) frozen north. Cordial tips: Layers of clothing and a scarf to cover your mouth; take smaller steps and keep your feet shoulder-width apart when walking on icy sidewalks and parking lots; pray the electricity doesn't go off for more than an hour at a time, LOL!

Well, I was just outside for the first time in 2 days. We are starting to have freezing rain, hopefully it will turn to snow.

We got ours here in Nevada...
95% of the time when the forecasters call for a "huge snow storm", they're >just< a bit off. Not this time! Sunday into Monday, we got ours. I actually live about 30-40 miles East of Reno and we never get any snow as it all dumps onto Reno then recharges as it passes over us then lets loose again towards the East side of the state. The Chocolate Labs (see my avatar pic) jumped out into the back yard and then jumped right back in. Jenny, the black and white, stayed out for hours playing and rolling in the snow. LOL!!!

as for the snow coming I'm itching to try out the other little Toro 2 stroke blower I found at the Habitat Restore this past summer. I bought a new one a couple of winters ago, slightly different chute system but otherwise identical,, they're a fantastic little machine, so tiny and light (about 11 inches high x 16 wide) but can plow thru nearly anything. CR not recommended them because they don't have a deadmans bail on the handle. I highly recommend them, the little Toro Powerclear
