I am trying to 'rationlize' my collection of small appliances a bit and I have this very old vintage fan that I have had for decades but realize that I will probably never get around to doing anything with it.
Short history: my father worked in a construction/demolition company when he first came to Canada in the fifties. He pulled all kinds of stuff out of old buildings that were being gutted for 'modernization' as they called it then. He pulled this huge and dangerous old fan out of a bank in downtown Montreal. It still worked, but apparently my late mother forbid it's use cause she was afraid me or my brother would chop a finger off. It sat in storage until the mid-1970s when we used it in our country house. The thing was a bit cranky to start, but when it got going, it was like a windstorm! It survived a house fire in 1992 and I have been dragging it around with me ever since.
It's a Robbins and Meyers brand and heavy as all get-out...
