I am trying to 'rationlize' my collection of small appliances a bit and I have this very old vintage fan that I have had for decades but realize that I will probably never get around to doing anything with it.
Short history: my father worked in a construction/demolition company when he first came to Canada in the fifties. He pulled all kinds of stuff out of old buildings that were being gutted for 'modernization' as they called it then. He pulled this huge and dangerous old fan out of a bank in downtown Montreal. It still worked, but apparently my late mother forbid it's use cause she was afraid me or my brother would chop a finger off. It sat in storage until the mid-1970s when we used it in our country house. The thing was a bit cranky to start, but when it got going, it was like a windstorm! It survived a house fire in 1992 and I have been dragging it around with me ever since.
It's a Robbins and Meyers brand and heavy as all get-out...

But now it needs a new home! I am offering up to a fellow collector first - it is yours for the price of shipping, or come by and pick it up in Ogden.
Please email if you are interested!

NICE!

That is a very very nice fan you have there! Looks to be in decent very restorable condition. Or just leave it as is! Real Patina there.

Robbins and Myers fans were EXCELLENT! They have been in business since the 1880s,

Yours looks to be mid 1910s. Blades look great!

***********************VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!***********

Shipping old fans is like shipping a baby. VERY fragile.

FOLLOW these instructions as best you can!

Never ship a fan with the blades or cage on it!

Excellent info! Thanks for the link about shipping a fan! I could write a book on how NOT to ship a mixer from eBay myself... LOL

"may"

You wont "may" find info, you WILL find info. Lol

The AFCA is the largest old fan organization in the world. :)

They have their OWN museum.

I, not even 3 days ago, Joined the forum as a paying member. Great site. Great people. Great fun. Just went to my first regional fan "mini-meet" if you will. Will maybe be attending one in Texas soon!
