I came across this video on YouTube, and apparently the gas valve on this particular LG gas dryer is sticking open, and it is sticking open between heating cycles. I don’t know how many this has happened to, but it’s a unsafe failure on a gas dryer.
Anyone ever have this happen before with their LG gas dryer before?

LG Gas Dryer Problem
Differently undesirable problem, but it is not very likely to cause a fire or explosion.
With the fan running the gas is so completely diluted with air that it would be impossible to ever get enough gas concentration to get it to burn.
Only if the dryer was in a small room and not vented outside would you ever get to a concretion where it could ignite.
All that said LG has a serious problem they need to fix, It amazes me that anyone would buy a LG or Samsung appliance when the US builds by far the best dryers in the world.

There should be an interlock to prevent this from happening. This could be implemented in a multitude of ways, most of which are very simple. This sort of defect is completely unacceptable.
With most of the gas fired equipment I have seen (more industrial), if the gas valve opens without ignition being detected - there will be some sort of lockout after a few seconds.

Hi Sean, Your HDG606 dryer has electronic controls, and there is nothing on this dryer to make it shut off if the control fails.
All HOH Gas dryers have only one gas valve, if its sticks open it keeps burning along and it takes less than 10 minutes for the burner under the drum full of dry clothing to go up in flames, MT was the only US dryer manufacturer from the 70s on to make such a dangerous design [ and yes we have seen it happen ]
I am not sure what is making the LG dryers do this and it is completely unacceptable, but I dough that it has resulted in any fires or explosions but rather just a strong smell of unburnt gas.

John I did read through a thread I created awhile back, you did mention how the gas valve could stick open on the gas HOH dryers, but I don’t think all of them had that problem, just a select few. I am sure most ran for many years with little trouble at all, and the pilot had to be re-lit every now and again bad that was it. When I put the DG606 into service along with the matching A606 washer, I’ll light the pilot on the data the dryer is going to be used, and I’ll tirn the pilot off on the days it isn’t being used at all. I do plan on converting it to automatic ignition once I obtain all the parts I need, but I’ll use it just as is with the pilot light on it.
well this video is from 2011......has there been a huge issue with all LG dryers, or just a select few?....
no machine is 100% fool proof of never having an issue....some more than others...but if you like a machine, your still going to buy it, everyone has their favorites.....
the one LG dryer I had was extremely quiet...
personally I would change the coils or valve first to see if that corrects the issue before replacing the board....
