Escrow will be closing on our place 4/10, and I've already purchased a vintage Paul Frankl MCM dining set, which has a better chance of coordinating with a new house than the heavy dark set we currently have. The truck is coming this afternoon to deliver the Frankl set and take our existing set to the consignment store.
I emptied the hutch/china cabinet of my mom's '30s vintage Meito china. I've offered to leave it behind for the new owners, as it has served many a special occasion dinner under this roof over the decades. It seems fitting to have it be part of the house. I've never considered it to be my style, and Dave was the one who was into formal entertaining, not me.
All I know (or think I know) about this china is that it was purchased at Sears in Chicago (my mom worked there) in the late '30s. There's service for 16 and it includes serving platters, serving bowls, gravy boat, sugar/creamer, relish bowls and large soup bowls.
If anyone can tell me more about this, I'd appreciate it. There is no pattern name indicated. I've attached some pictures taken with my phone as I was boxing it up this morning. I took them with the phone sideways and it appears to have cut off parts of the shots.
