Hello washer friends, I have a late 1950s dexter quicktwin that I aquired last summer. The pump was toast and I ended up making it a gravity drain. I believe the original design was the suds saver set up where you could put the drain hose in the wash tub and reuse the soapy water that you washed with again as to save money. The one lid has a port in the top that indicates this fact. thanks Bill the drycleaner

if you can't find a replacement, many have installed an electric pump in place, would be simple to install a switch and tap into the power...

most times the hole in the lid was to hold/store the drain hose...almost every wringer had a setup to wrap the cord and hold the hose.....

not sure what you mean by re-using/returning the suds back to the machine....most times the suds are returned to the machine by the pan under the wringer....

got to use one of these at an Aunt's house, first time ever using a wringer, placed in front of a double laundry tub, and you can kick out some serious laundry in no time...
