Seems to get good CR ratings. I bought some via Amazon and decided to try it. This was the "free/clear" version with no fragrances or dyes. Cost was comparable to Tide HE but shipping added to expense. After checking their "where to buy" store locater, apparently it is sold at "some" Ralphs, Albertsons, and Targets in the area, though apparently not at the ones I frequent, hence never saw it on a retail shelf.

Did two test loads yesterday, on dog blankets and dog bed covers belonging to the neighbor, whose TL can't accommodate the dog bedding (the blanket is a low end queen size comforter with synthetic cover). He has my old GE gas dryer*, which I gave away after I got my Frigidaire 2140/1442 washer and dryer. The GE has a larger drum than the Frigidaire, so usually I will wash the bedding and he dries them in his dryer.

*when I bought my FL, my nine year old GE TL had broken twice and was pronounced unrepairable by the local repair place. However, because it was one of the unreliable ones with plastic tubs, and less than ten years old, it had value for parts, so Salvation Army was willing to take it and give me a donation slip. My neighbor had a late 80s Kenmore pair with electric dryer. In this area, it's way cheaper to dry with gas than with electricity, and he asked if he could trade dryers with me: he got my old, non-stacking GE gas dryer (going strong after 13 years) and he gave me his Kenmore electric dryer, which I gave to Salvation Army and for which I received a second donation slip. The GE has a larger tub, so when I need to dry a king size comforter a wee bit too big for my dryer, my neighbor lets me use his (my old) GE, and I wash dog articles too big for his Kenmore TL.

I've used Seventh Generation powder, and have no complaints. I doubt it has the raw power of conventional detergents. But I really don't need that power most of the time.

I like the fact Seventh Generation is unscented and has no optical brighteners.

I recall trying a Seventh Generation liquid. I never really liked it as well--although I didn't hate it. The liquid was scented, but the scent was reasonable, unlike so many detergents today that have scents that smell like three different cheap perfumes mixed together, and are so strong you can smell the clothes across the house even a month after they've been washed.
