If so, act now. They are having a 20% off sale if your order is over $200 (code: SAVEMORE, though offer valid at stores also) and 25% off if over $500. This brings the normal price of a $250 Smart Oven (generally never discounted, including Amazon which also sells for $250) down to $199, plus free shipping (not sure if sales tax is calculated on $250 vs $199). The sale ends tonight at midnight.

DAMN!!!

<span style="font-family: courier new, courier;">I bought a Smart Oven Pro about a month or so ago.  I waited and waited for them to go on sale and they never did so I bit the bullet and bought it from Breville since they were the same price everywhere.  Everytime anyone of these places has a sale it seems Breville is often excluded from the discount!!</span>

<span style="font-family: courier new, courier;">BTW, I really love mine!  I don't use my big ovens nearly as much as I used to because of this.  Also I would recommend ordering the cutting board for the top as well.  The top gets really hot but with the cutting board (it has some kind of rubber feet) it stays cool so you can put things up there if you wish.  It's worth the extra few dollars.

I got one of these Brevilles years ago, and I love it. It was my only oven for about 2 years, a period of anger and frustration between the succession of modern ranges that ruined everything I baked and the 1954 Frigidaire RT-70 that is now my pride and joy.

The Breville bakes remarkably well, and still I use it for biscuits or single-layer cakes like génoise.  It’s a little too small for a Bundt pan, but I’ve used it anyway—it overcooks the top, but I just scrape that off!!

No little machine like this is without its problems.  The main one is that it cooks hotter in the front than in the back, and I had to be sure to rotate the pan if I wanted everything to look even.  I’m not all that picky, though, so mostly I let things be a little browner on one side than the other.

No issues here..

<span style="font-family: courier new,courier;">John,  </span>

<span style="font-family: courier new, courier;">Maybe the newer ones have resolved some of these things because I haven't had these issues. I bought the larger one so I could use it for some larger pans.  I think I can use up to a 13 inch pizza pan and a pan that is about 7" high if I move the rack to the lower position.  I especially love the way it toasts bagels.</span>

<span style="font-family: courier new, courier;">I think you're right.  No small appliance like this will be without it's quirks so I didn't expect it to replace my regular oven all together.  I did expect it to be used for leftovers (not a big microwave fan here) and it works well for that.  So far the presets have worked well for me.  </span>

<span style="font-family: courier new, courier;">One thing I really love, I made one of my favorite cookie recipes, and froze them into balls.  I can bake nine of them from frozen using the frozen setting and they come out perfectly. I used to have to warm the regular oven so I always felt like I should do more than a few at a time but with this I can do just a few and when they are gone I can do a few more.  I don't eat many of them and my partner has 1 or 2 in the morning with his coffee so doing this he gets a fresher cookie in the morning.
</span>

<span style="font-family: courier new,courier;">I'm happy with it so far.</span>

I love my Breville!

I have had one for a couple of years, and I bought another for my office after we moved into a new building just a few months ago. One of my friends has one, and his parents have one as well.

It can do just about anything! I've never had a problem with it, and find myself using it almost daily! I use it to rise and then bake homemade bread, I use it to toast bagels and bread, I use it to make frozen pizzas. I use the broil feature to melt cheese on Mexican dishes that I make, I bake pies in it, and use it for smaller casseroles. I also use it frequently to heat leftovers. It seems to hold a lot despite the small size. In my opinion it was money well spent (both times)!

I bought both of mine from Bed Bath & Beyond with a 20% off coupon. They had what I wanted in-store, so I didn't have to have anything shipped.

Too bad Breville is excluded. I bought mine at a W-S during a 10% off sale that included Breville products. I had discovered a long-lost $150 gift certificate (certificate---before there were gift cards!!). Price was thus $225, so I paid $75 difference plus tax on $250. I"ve had mine at least five years and it even bakes a 10" pie evenly (with convection on). I can bake two large loaf pans of quick bread (e.g. banana-apple bread) at once. I too bought the cutting board and recommend it---allows you to stash items atop the oven without risk of heat damage. It has reduced use of my 30" range oven to big jobs: turkeys, roasts, or baking three jelly roll pans of cookies or four pies at once (with convection on).

I, too, waited and waited for a good sale. Was in Bed, Bath & Beyond for something else and thought I'd just go over and check out the ovens. They had the TOL Breville oven display model for sale, plus I had a 20% off coupon. I think when all was said and done, I wound up getting it for $160. Brand-new. Never used. Minus the box. I was good with that.

I have the older version which doesn't have an interior light or the slow cook function. I love it, and use it all the time. It cooks evenly, and I have baked many pies and cakes in it. I use it much more often than my full sized oven as it is a great size when making dinner for the two of us. I has one of the best user manuals I have seen in a long time.

I bought mine 4 or 5 years ago and BBB.  They were so new, I was ahle to use a 20% off coupon.  I love it.  I use it 98% of the time.  Regular oven only gets used for baking full sheets of cookies or something too big to fit in the oven, like a turkey breast.  Saves electricity and time. I can get a 5 qt. Corning "dutch oven" in it, without the lid on.

WTH Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons......

<span style="font-family: courier new,courier;">...They must have changed something because the paper ones I have sitting here right now and the online one I have all list Breville as excluded.  I guess it must be a more recent change.  </span>

<span style="font-family: courier new, courier;">I bought mine based on the fact that I have a couple of Breville products and am happy with them but also the reviews I read were really favorable much like those posted here. I had an issue a while back with my coffee grinder and they sent out a brand new one (warranty started over) with no questions asked.  The old one went in the box and right back. </span>

<span style="font-family: courier new, courier;">For me, it was a good purchase and like others, I use it in one form or another almost every day.</span>

Oh dang, when did they add the light? I guess mine is about 3 years old now, and I love it. I originally got it because at the time I had a monster of a Viking gas range, and the oven took about a year to preheat. And cooking for 2, I rarely need the full size oven. Like it so much I bought my mom one shortly after I got mine. She initially said she didn't want it, but she loves it too. My single brother-in-law was visiting and liked it so much, he bought one too. My only minor gripe is that it doesn't have an interior light.

Don't know when they added the light...

B<span style="font-family: courier new, courier;">ut I had to chuckle for a second when I read your reply Virginia.  What I thought of was the early years of Hotpoint dishwashers where the upper rack was connected to the bottom.  You pulled them out as one and had to load them from the top.  Then a few years later they came out with the Top and Bottom rack working independently of each other as we have today.</span>

<span style="font-family: courier new, courier;">Can you imagine some housewife saving a little bit each month from the grocery money to buy a dishwasher, she buys the older version and then shortly after they came out with the new one?  She probably said the same thing "Dang when did they make that change???"</span>

<span style="font-family: courier new, courier;">The one I bought is the Pro model.  It was $20 more and for that you get the Light and the Slow Cook function.  I have used the Slow Cook function a number of times and it's nice not to have to get out a huge crock pot if you're doing something small.  I bet there is someone in your family who would love a hand-me-down oven and then you'd have to buy a new one!!</span>

Yes, I suppose it's that way with any gadget. There's always an improved version around the corner.

When I bought mine there was no pro model, only the different sizes. And I think only the largest had convection. I do love this oven, I'm cooking an oven pancake or "Dutch Baby" in it as I type. My 10" cast iron skillet just fits.

I like your idea of handing it down so I could get a new one. I already bought my mom one and BIL bought himself one, and there really isn't anyone else I'd give it to. Nah, I'll keep it a few more years and then maybe I'll upgrade.

I bought the Pro version as a gift for a neighbor (as a thank you for many, many favors) in fall 2015. At that point they were selling both versions, and I believe the Pro was on sale for $249. As others have said, it has the light and a slow cook function. The classic version's cook time is limited to 120 minutes.

I've read reviews on line stating that the weak point of the oven design is its convection fan and that these have a short life. Mine is fine after about five years of use. If it went out now and was not repairable, I'd gladly buy a new one, just for the convenience and versatility of this appliance.

I repeat exactly what Jim said above. I did a forum search and looks like I got mine fall of 2009.  It's used several times a week.  The display isn't as bright as it used to be, but I can still use it.  The convection fan is beginning to make a slight knocking noise when I turn on the oven, but it eventually goes away.  When this one goes, I'll get another.  it can hold up to a 5 qt. corning casserole (without lid) and I've used that in there numerous times when making a 2 pound batch of baked pasta.  I don't use my regular oven but a few times a year, maybe 10 times a year at most.  But I love having two ovens that can handle a 9 x 13 pan.

Bob,

<span style="font-family: courier new, courier;">I hope I get at least that many years out of mine.  So far so good but I've only had it maybe six months.  It does such a nice job.  I think someone posted that the oven doesn't bake evenly but I have not had that issue with mine.  </span>

<span style="font-family: courier new, courier;">Here is a banana bread that I baked this morning and they really do come out nicely.</span>

I have a covered Graniteware 9 x 13 roaster. The lid handles are placed on the ends, rather than the top, so that it clears the heating elements of the Breville Smart Oven. So I can use the roaster with lid on or off. As Bob/Appnut explained, only big jobs (four pies at once; sheets of cookies in double or triple batches) need to go in the range oven. I can bake a 10" pie or a 13" pizza in the Breville. Roasted chicken for four can go in the Breville. In my own situation, I don't save that much on utilities, because the big oven is gas while the Breville consumes electricity. But it reaches cooking heat in minutes (vs 20+ minutes for the range) and the kitchen stays cooler using the smaller oven, partly of course because gas ovens are vented and electric ovens are not.
