Here are a few pics of my friends house, it was designed by the same architect as our house at the same time but was done on a wealthy dentist's budget
Every detail in the house was top of he line.

I wanted to get a pic of the central vacuum in the storage room outside, it's a fantastic aqua blue and was only used a few times, works perfect now. The ovens are gas on the right and electric on the left. There's a gas outlet under the laundry sink with a countertop gas cook plate for when the power goes out. The stovetop is electric. It's a modern glass now.

That's the EXACT intercom that came with our house September 1961.  Our street was the Houston Parade of Homes Spring 1961.

Love to see more pics! I used to work in a building which had similar cabinets with the same fragility issues. The ovens look cool as well.

I love that plastic laminate on the counter!  Why can't anyone offer something similar now?  Grrrrr

That's awesome appnut! I'm trying to get the guy from retro radio farm to rebuild it, it doesn't work. We are just up north in spring, where was y'all's house in Houston? There are some phenomenal places here, esp around jersey village etc.
that laminate was the future back then apparently. No more post war painted wood to get dented chipped banged up, not for this modern housewife with resources to spare the edging getting chipped is unfortunate but I guess they couldn't predict that far into the future for plastic reliability..
I'm glad our house has some great laminate already, Formica makes a few cool patterns still but they're limited, I tell everyone I know who's building a kitchen to do laminate, my favorite material, but they look at me like I'm crazy and put some godforsaken black galaxy granite. Barf and who cares about what it's harvesting has done to the environment. But I digress .
Keep it simple sistah is my esthetic..

I like that laminate countertop too. The color combination is just right.
