Are new Whirlpool FL Washers in the pipline?

There are new pictures of FL washers in the Whirlpool Digital Library. Based on the pictures, which could be computer generated, it looks like they are extending the (What to wash/How to wash) interface to the FL machines.

There is a model with a touch screen built into the door. Hopefully it has more options, as the ones with the traditional button display seem to lack some current features, like delay wash and eco boost. There is also no obvious way to adjust the "Load & Go" water hardness and detergent concentration settings.

Most curious, there seems to be a full-length drawer/door at the bottom of the machine. Could this be for bulk supplies, or to access the drain pump?

I can't seem to load high resolution versions of the pictures, but if you are interested, I can email them to you or they can be downloaded from the Whirlpool Digital Library.

Joe, i have been expecting new ones. Home Depot has been having sporadic up to 30% sales since before new years on many washer and dryer models.

Sounds like a sign of something new coming, Bob. I couldn't find the new models on the Energy Star website.

One model has a "how to wash" option of "Sanitize with OXY," yet it also had a steam button. Normally machines with that option do not have a built in heater. I have seen some Photoshop work on their photos in the past, with some options and labeling not matching the actual machines.

I an beginning to seriously think about replacing my Dependable care dryer and was starting to wonder if I get a machine that somewhat matched My 2011 duet. But who knows I might even like the new models even better.

And I sure hope their new models have a recirculation pump. They need to catch up to the likes of LG, Samsung and Electrolux.

I don't think they got rid of the additives drawer.  Possibly the TOL models. That "drawer" is still there when pedestals are added.  If that drawer is for additives, would be nice if it also included access to the coin catcher to clean it out.

The recess to open the detergent drawer seems to be moved to the top of the drawer.

That's the compact washer/dryer. If you download the Original .tif file of one of the stacked TOL sets with the display on the door and zoom in on the left upper side of the washer, you can see what looks like a recess to pull the drawer open.

I don't like how the controls are integrated into the door in the white model featured in the post. I wonder if the whole door would have to be replaced as a unit should the control interface ever goes bad. These days, subassemblies are far and few between.

Otherwise, it looks decent. I'd take the metallic/grey one with the interface on the upper part of the machine above the door. It would be a plus if they offered a true stainless front and nixed the tinted plastic overlay that seems to be so prevalent on today's front loaders, including my own. I like to see the action.

please yes I hope they do have recirculation and a drain pump access door. But controls on the door itself? I've been wondering for so long when Whirlpool would change their models it feels like it's been forever.

Quite. Bloody daft design.

I seem to remember that one of the Hotpoint/Indesit ranges (the Aqualtis), had the controls on the door, leading to problems.

And I'm sure that years ago, BBC Watchdog had complaints about Hotpoint fridges where the wiring went into the door.

Drain pump access door cleanout. I have one om my GE washer. It is great to have if something should get caught in there. Other than that, I check it a few times a year and it is typically spotless. Maybe a few strands of lint every now and again.

The indoor Hotpoint Aqualtises never had controll issues to speak off. Their bearings were shot way before that, always.

LG has a simmilar design on its Signature combo.

And I doubt that you'd have to replace the entire door panel or even that a lot can go wrong there.
It probably only has the interface in the door, any real control stuff is probably within the machine.

All those dryer cycles are for marketing.  Heavy Duty vs. Jeans?  Regular vs. Normal vs. Whites?  Etc.

Well let me tell you, I like the variety.  And as I've said countless times, I do not pay attention to what the label of cycles is.  What matters to me is how a cycle executes.  And each one of those cycles no doubt offers different nuances.  A reason why I want downloadable cycles.  And Whirlpool is beginning to deliver with their current TOL dishwasher.  In one of the recent KitchenAid dishwasher releases, the user manual mentioned connectivity and downloading cycles.  (no current models in KA line offer that).  To be honest, I've not liked the current WP FL family offerings because they removed several basic cycles that my model/series offered.  Cycles that all the foreign-based companies still offered.  I don't use my Jeans cycle for just jeans.  It's essentially a delicate cycle with interim spins (which Delicate and Hand Wash don't allow) plus a cool down.  I use it for my "golf" shirts.  I use Bulky Items for some of my casual wear for work--a medium tumble and an initial "soak" period for 4 to 6 minutes. Their dishwasher downloadable cycles include an Anti-Bacterial (has the exact same sequence as the KUDS25 cycle with the same name). There have been a few times recently I sure could have used--featuring the prolonged prewash due to cycle being held while water heats to 135 as well as extra high temp main wash.  And that extra hot temps strip away stubborn food soil.
