ASKO washer question...

HI! My 11-year-old Asko W-600 doesn't spin (but it tumbles for the wash & rinse cycles, so it's not the belt).
I heard a noise that sounded like coins trapped in the pump, but it was clean. I'm guessing that the bearings could be shot. "The Big Question"... as much as I like this machine, it ain't cheap to service. Should I bite the bullet, and get it fixed, or simply scuttle it, and buy a new washing machine?

Couldn't it be the motor brushes? (Do those machine have carbon brushes?)

I'm not sure. I know that it's a D-C motor, and there are "modules" that are replaceable.

Can you get it to spin on any cycle? Have you tried pressing the spin reduction button?

 

If yours has the outer door, it could be as simple as the interlock that stops the spin when the door is down has come loose

Do you have a picture of this machine? A picture of the inner controls? The motor? Those would really help. Asko machines aren't all that common in OH.

I'd check the door safety lock. If it's broken it will do everything but spin.

There's no drop down door on this model (which I why I favored this particular model in the first place). I caught the machine failing to get up to speed after the "rebalancing" portion of the cycle. After a few minutes, the machine advanced the timer to the "Service" mode, and shut itself off. The last time it worked, as it was spinning, there was a noise that almost sounded like coins trapped in the pump. When I checked afterwards, there was nothing in there. My guess is a the bearings are shot.

Hello ther is a littel thing on the back of motor this is a comentator or almost as a littel dynamo in 99,99 persentof the failiur to spin this is the thing i have changed adusin of them. it is scheap and easy to change 2 or 4 smal scqus and costs betwen 10-30 usd. this is working by making electrisity to the mother board that controls the motor the higer spin the higer power this is made mostley of plastic. you say it try to balance and this is when it failis it dos not give the motor enof power to spin. if it was the bearing it woud be like a thunder storm but still spinning. you can also change the motor and bee safe.

that is the tach generator-it's rotating magnet coming loose could generate
the noise of"coins in the pump"

I should mention that this model has no computer boards, nor any "crap" like that; it's all rotary controls, and push-buttons.

A repairman is coming in a couple of days to check it out.

have you checked if the ¨no spin¨ button is pressed in?
