I’ve decided to experiment with creating a new website for serving up most of the back-issue Daily Doctrine. I named the new website “Automatic Ephemera” using the website url: www.automatice.org. I came up with the shortened web address automatice.org as not everyone knows the word "ephemera" much less can easily spell it. AutomaticE was also the name of a vintage Electrolux vacuum cleaner so it works well with the site genre.

Over time I want to add much more than just the washer, dryer and dishwasher doctrine to Automatic Ephemera. We have a ton of vacuum cleaner materials as well as other home products and catalogs which I think will be of interest to so many others out there as well.

As for the price of downloads, here is how Automatic Ephemera will work. Anytime I add something new to the site there will be an introductory price of $1.39 per download for the first three days which is the same price that is set for the Daily Doctrine Dispenser. After three days pricing will be based on the size of the file which is currently set .09 cents per megabyte with a $1.99 minimum. So the majority of files will be $1.99 after the 3-day introductory period, but some of the larger files will be slightly higher. This helps to assure that the new website will pay for itself over time and I can continue to purchase new materials to add to it.

Also please note for those who are not members of automaticwasher.org no login is necessary on Automatic Ephemera to purchase downloads.

So if you wish check the new site out and please report any bugs to me either by email or in this thread.

For those who have credit for donating doctrine documents, please email me for the special log-in link so you can use your Dispenser credit on Automatic Ephemera as well. Thanks everyone!

I will be placing a link on aw.org, plus there is a new link on the Daily Doctrine Dispenser page as well.  Also please be sure to check out the drop down search features located under the red oval...

Also....

If anyone is sitting on ephemera that would benefit other owners, I hope they'll take advantage of the DDD and the new Website to share it.

Many collectible appliances owned by a good number of people here are not yet represented in the collection. I have a pair of second-generation 806 Maytags, a KDS-15 dishwasher, an Amana Radarange RR-4D microwave and an Electrolux 1205 vacuum - none of which have manuals available yet, and these are NOT especially rare appliances. None of the beloved GE Liberator and Stratoliner ranges are represented yet, either.

So, if you're holding anything like this and thinking of "getting around to it," please - get around to it! A lot of other people will be very grateful to you.

Just snagged the 57 GE with 3 hours to go.

My Aunt Aunt Alice who was gay and recently deceased should have been your Aunt. She hated her Suds-saver and never used it. I would not be alive today if I had ever moved the button from the neutral position to "SAVE" since the suds hose was coiled up in the back of the machine, and her kitchen would have flooded.

Hers was pink and with the copper filter and it was stunning.

Ephemera is a beautiful, evocative word. Perfect. Good Idea. Now I won't be bugging you every week when I miss one. I'll just send you weather reports instead

Was I your first customer?

Hi Sandy, there is the full owners manual for the second generation Maytag 806 located under Maytag automatic washers. I might have the Electrolux vacuum owners manual as well, I'll check this week.

Sorry Mike, close but not first :-)

That's a good idea!

And I like the fridge at the top of the page too!

I see quite a few prices above $1.39. Are all items priced at 1.39 for 3 days or just some?

Hi Phil, yes all documents are $1.39 for the first three days after I've added them to the site. After three days they are calculated via the size of the file.

I guess all items were added today since you just posted about it?

I tried to buy a few but none of them were 1.39 (one was priced over $5).

No, I've been working on the site for a couple of months and have been posting stuff all along. Most of these items were available in the dispenser previously and were $1.39 then.

I'll download the 'Tag manual later this week, when I have time, thanks.

Post the 1205 manual in your own good time, not on my account, since there are four different versions of it, reflecting the running changes on that model over its five years of production, plus a manual for factory refurbished machines. There's only a one-in-four chance that a given 1205 manual will be the one I'm looking for, so I would feel bad if you got into heroic measures to post it, and I didn't download it.

Thanks!

I like it too .....

Robert

Just an idea for the future but would you consider adding a country of origin to the matrix and the search criteria. I realise that, at the moment, its a bit academic but hopefully in time you will be able to build up a library from all over the world and the additional search criteria would be useful.

Also, could you make a permanent note somewhere on either site the copyright and scanning parameters you require for donations - I know there is a thread on it but I think a permanent reference point could be useful.

And finally, is the cartoon yours too? I really like it - just like the friendly face that greets visitors to AW :)
