With all the talk lately of coffee pots and popcorn makers, I thought I'd show off the pics of the machine I picked up a couple weeks ago- The Presto Automatic Corn Popper!

No doubt about it, mint shape, teflon coated, chrome base, and shuts off automatically, somehow managing to pop every kernel. The flower shaped "Signal Light" is actually a cutout allowing you to view the heating element glowing inside. Neat!

Great find Cory! You'll enjoy this a lot. Ben, make sure he makes popcorn for you next time...this type of unit makes awesome popcorn.

You guys have probably had a lot of popcorn from a microwave or an air popper, but this way is really great. I eat some microwave corn at work sometimes, but I like making it at home in my vintage Knapp Monarch electric popper.

Now that is unusual

I've never seen that model before. Guessing it's a late 60's being teflonized and still got chrome. Their later models were shaped differently and plasticized. Real popcorn is the best especially when you don't skimp on the real butter. I'm still on the lookout for an early Stir Crazy pc maker, had to buy a new one :(

Stir Crazy

"I'm still on the lookout for an early Stir Crazy pc maker, had to buy a new one :("

Nothing wrong with the new ones, they haven't really changed the design. There's no advantage to owning a "vintage" model. You DO have to be careful, they do/did make a model that looked exactly like the Stir Crazy, but didn't have the stirring rod and unless you're paying attention, you can get the wrong model.

Hey, Cory!

I have the "grandfather" of your popper. Just got it last week, as a matter of fact. No Lexan bowl, no daisy viewing window, no Teflon and no automatic, but it sure looks cool and makes great popcorn.

Will post a pic when I get all the smalls together for a group shot--the scheduling is a nightmare!

WOW!

Even more vintage that that plastic 70s model :-O

I want one.

Of course, I have the Whirly-Pop machine. It's like a stir-crazy only it's stove-top and manual.

Jason

With some initiative you could assemble together a series of pulleys, one end attached to an agitator the other end attached to your whirly pop and get two jobs done at once automatically...hahaha

Yummy!

I've got a bag of Star Wars dark chocolate peanut m&ms that would go great with that popcorn! :-)
