Avocado Maytag Wringer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I double-checked the chart last night and your machine was made in April 1969. The color was called "Spanish Avocado" and Maytag started using that color in September 1967. I don't show when they stopped producing machines in that color, however.

The foot (or safety) pedal to operate the wringer rollers was put on all conventional washers in October 1969. The "Let's Talk Service" bulletins indicate that the safety pedal was starting to get introduced in May 1969 ... a month after your machine was made.

Hang on to your machine; it is a fine specimen of an American-made product ... right down to the bolts!! :-)

Interesting Geoff. I noticed that the Maytag factory even went through the trouble to line up the "Maytag" logos on the wringer just before they shipped the machine. Now that's attention do detail! I imagine the later pictures of the 3 wringers together was after you had used the machine, and the rollers were turned around.
