Does anyone know of an aw.org for antique stoves? I'm slowly coming to accept the fact that unless I win the lottery, I'll never own a place with a kitchen large enough to accommodate my great-grandmother's Phillips & Clark Andes stove. It has 4 wood/coal "burners", 4 gas burners, and 2 overhead warmers.

It is almost identical to the one in the attached pic. However mine has a color scheme slightly less jarring: Cream and tan.

I'd like to get an idea of its value and what my options for selling it are.

Inscribed on the surface is "42 4 ST". The wood burning potion was used for heating until 1980, but I don't believe the gas burners have been used since the late 30's. All parts are there save the side car water heater which was likely thrown away when my great-grandmother got oil hot water heat installed in the late 50's.

Does anyone have any ideas how I might approach this?

Thanks,

Jim

It looks like a wonderful stove. If you move it, make sure you remove the stove from the base. The base could break and then you would be without it. The warming ovens and back splash will also come off. Good luck with this. Gary

That is really neat. Your best market for that is to those out in the country or with weekend cabins in the mountains. Would be a great dual fuel stove for cold climates and has a great retro look that works well in a log cabin.

Thanks, All!

Thanks for the link. I see that my next step is to clean it up so I can take decent pics to get a realistic appraisal. The problem is that it's 3 hours away in a climate controlled storage unit near where my grandparents lived before they passed on.

There's no access to running water, so clean-up will involve many rolls of paper towel with many bottles of cleaner. Hmmmmmm.... what is best for porcelain, anyway?

The stove was broken down when it was brought there, so at least I won't have that to contend with when I clean it.

In some ways it breaks my heart to part with it. I have so many fond memories attached to it. At the same time, it makes no financial sense for me to pay storage fees for something I'll never be able to use or enjoy.

Thanks again,

Jim
