We were in BERLIN on Saturday - to see Barbra the third time!
First we saw her last autumn in Ft. Lauderdale as we would have sworn that she will never come to Europe in her live. Now we first got tickets for her concert in Wien (Vienna) and went there the 21./22.June as Berlin wasn't announced first. But then...she came to Germany! In the Waldbühne she gave us all such a wonderful evening! It was the best event I've seen with her - better than in Ft. Lauderdale and also better than in Vienna! People gave her outstanding applause, she had to wait several times before she could go on with her show...! Finally she came back and let the lights switch on again and the orchesta had to take place again for a final encore she arranged with the conductor extemporaneously.
Also the scenery was marvelous....
A pink sun-set and a lovely warm evening in the greek-style built theatre (amphitheatre) surrounded by a forest...
It was such an audience!!!
I had never such a concert before!!!
Many artists from theatre, film and TV were there as well as politicians and the Mayor of Berlin with his partner (he's the first gay mayor in Germany) and the chairman of the FDP (Liberal Party of Germany) who is supposed to be gay as well.
It was nice to see so many characters of people there: leather gays, lesbians, couples from 20-80 years old, men dressed formally in suit and tie with women in skirts or robes, absolutely trendy people as well as people in jeans & t-shirt... It was a total mixture of the inhabitants of Germany - all kind of characters were to be found. And all came to see Barbra!! It took three hours to get the 20,000 people checked with detectors and stuff (felt almost like being at the airport...) and let them into the arena but finally everybody was so happy that they left the place after the concert singing songs of her or whistling parts of them while walking back to the parking-plot or back to the underground/subway...
It was undescribable.
