Someone took the Miele ironer? Last I peeked it still had no bidders. Yes, did see it but as I already have the Pfaff, one 220v ironer is enough. Besides it was on the west coast and shipping would have been dear.
As for the Bendix unit, the seller only states she "found another", so am assuming it is another Bendix. You'd be surprised what one can find out in the Mid-West. It seems lots of vintage appliances, linens and other goodies. Guess all those big old homes and farms have room to store things long after people stop using them.
While it is nice to have the large Pfaff ironer, still find can iron large items faster with less creasing by using my "big board" ironing board. It is nice to sit down but the darn roller on the Pfaff even in high gear is so slow. In contrast my "new" Ironrite baby unit's roller whizzes so fast have to slow it down by "braking" if item has too much moisture.
Only thing that worries me about the Bendix is spare parts, but probably the motor and thermostat (most important features), can be replaced if need be with something off the shelf. I say go for it if you have the room. Even with shipping it will be much cheaper to have the Bendix than shipping a Pfaff from Europe! *LOL* You just need to find the nearest forward air depot in your area and some big strong friends to help you get the thing home. Another idea is to find out if Craters and Freighters are in the sellers area. It might be cheaper and eaiser for C&F or another similar shipping company to do the packing and shipping. This way you would get door to door service, cutting out the need for a truck and some strong friends. Possibly saving on chiropractor bills as well! *LOL*x2
There are so many Ironrite units just sitting on eBay lately. Some are on their third or fourth auction. It is amazing how some units go for $$$ and the same unit can sit for ages without even a nibble. The "PortAway" Ironrite models when they come up are big sellers since they are so rare. Wonder why?
Good luck,
L.
