Hey all! I have found this little gem round the back of a bin area at a block of flats where good friends live. I went round to the bin area and saw a odd back plate that I had never seen like before, and so I turned the machine round, not noticing the sticker on the lid only to find it is a BENDIX washer dryer! I have no clue what the model is, so please help me. I also need to think tight, the problem is I now have 3 machines in the garage and am due to get another soon. What can I do? Does anybody want the WM64, mail me if you do!

Here is a pic and I'll see what dad says later on.

Hi Chris.

You should go and get it and then decide what to do with it later!
Go! Go and get it!

With scrapmen trawling the streets all the time, I have everything crossed that it will still be there for you.

Dont know the model number, but judging from the angled front lid trim I would think that it is a very early crossover model, from the original brown fascia machines into the later series when they went white.
The programme details on said angled trim also associates it to being a crossover model.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Chris

I agree with Paul. I don't think there are too many of these about. Have you got a photo of the back?

How are you Paul? This is similar to the one I mentioned when I posted those electricity board brochures that my neighbours had when I was growing up. I'm sure their's had 6 buttons on the front and the dryer part used air rather than a condenser as it had a vent hose through the wall! Not sure if it was a faster spin either. Is there any literature on these anywhere?
Cheers

I had the washer version with the same styling in my store for a couple of years back in the late '90s. I had not been in the trade long at that time so was probably a bit gullible. It was the only machine I actually paid for for spares / repairs, £10 if I recall correctly. I didn't manage to fix it and I don't think I ever sold any of the bits so it was £10 wasted! After that I only took machines I could have gratis.

Have everything crossed Chris - perilously close to dustbins though :-(

Hiya Stephen.
All is fine this end and I haven't forgotten the literature that i said I would do for you! servis quartz manual and info for the washdog hoovermatics - problem is that i am seldom home at weekends and the light is poor for photographs whenever they are at hand. Rest assured that they will be dealt with eventually.

Have scoured my image library and haven't found a photo of a six button home laundry centre that I know for sure is a Home Laundry Centre, but have found a couple of photos of the model 73868. The subject matter of this thread morphed into this machine...

Hi Paul

No worries about the information. I've still not got round to scanning those other brochures - not enough hours in the day. I'm in no rush as selling the house at the minute so restorations are on hold until that is out of the way and the quartz info was just to compensate for not having one myself!! I was really tempted by the one that was on eBay recently and it sold for just £20 so I would have been in with a chance but I couldn't justify the round trip to Batley or fit it in :(. Hopefully another will turn up soon and preferably the older version.

It seems like there is very little information on these Bendix machines and of what there is, you seem to be the sole source lol!! There was a 6 button machine in Norfolk for sale recently but they don't surface very often. Perhaps not so popular in the UK.

Did you have any joy Chris?

Cheers
Stephen
