Big thanks to Mike in Elmont!

Hi folks!

I just wanted to post a huge thank-you to Mike from Elmont, NY. Togs and I went out again to visit him on Thursday night, and I'm now the proud owner of a Speed Queen AWS45NW and a Maytag SAV4655EWW. Mike was kind enough to make me an offer too good to refuse on both machines, so they've come to Staten Island to wait a bit until I manage to close on my house. The Maytag will most likely stay here, on the Island with mom & dad, and the Speed Queen will come along to Sayreville with me.

Both machines, like the Bosch dishwasher and the Maytag front-loader are in ~pristine~ shape and should give me quite a few good years of service.

I'd also like to make sure Toggles knows how much I appreciate his help getting these beasts up a flight of stairs and out to the curb, and into the truck. Without his help, I'd never have been able to get the machines at all.

Congratulations on the washers! I love the Speed Queen and the Maytag looks nice too.

I must say that house looks cute! Is that on Staten Island? I love Staten Island, did a bit of walking there and took the train trip to the end of the Island and back again. It's quite an oasis compared to Manhattan! I will keep my fingers crossed for you that it's going to work out with that house. Keep us informed!

The house is just across the Outerbridge Crossing in Sayreville NJ. I'd love to stay on Staten Island, but I can't really afford the home prices here. Between that and the bridge tolls which are up to $8 to get to NJ, and it makes little sense to even try and stay here. (I work in New Jersey).

This house will be my first. I've been at home for quite long enough now, and I'm excited to be heading out on my own. The house is a short sale - a hilarious misnomer as its taking ages to get all the involved parties to get their acts together. Right now, I've secured a mortgage, and all the for sale signs are down at the house. I'm waiting now on the court judgement for the other folks which will tell me if the court and the bank have accepted my offer, and then I'll have a closing date. It looks like a pretty sure thing, though.

The house is pretty cute. Its got good bones and has had a roof, windows, furnace and water heater all done in the last few years. I'll be left with a few odd jobs here and there, and a lot of painting, but overall nothing too complicated or costly (famous last words?).

First order of business... those shutters are a bit too blue.

BTW interesting dryer hose. Looks kinda like what car mechanics use to exhaust cars outside of the garage in winter.

Don't worry sir, my father is an architect and I have the "let's maximize space-planning gene". We'll find a way to get all of your appliances in there, even if we have to grease the sides with KY jelly and give them a swift kick into place!

Yes, the dryer hose is a drain-tile kinda thing - made of plastic, horribly unsafe and absolutely not going to be left in place. Before I do anything with the laundry room, I'm going to pull that mess out and install a rigid metal duct and properly exhaust it outside the house - you don't want to know where that damned thing goes now. Its scary.

I'll have to review those rules - they might be there to prevent one from burning the house down or asphyxiating anyone by using the dryer. Carbon Monoxide is fun!
