I am in possession of a Blackstone model 193 electric dryer--matching model for a 350 washer. I am uncertain what to do with it.

I obtained it about a year ago. Converted the wiring to run on 110, intending to use as a source of heat in the cellar. I do not have 220. Results were unsatisfactory. The amount of heat is much less than I expected.

This dryer was one of the new-in-box Blackstone dryers which I sold when cleaning out our family business in 2006. One part of me wants to save the dryer purely for sentimental reasons; another part of me wants to see the dryer become part of a collection where it would be appreciated.

As the dryer is now, missing are the clips to secure the stainless top. The bearing in the blower needs lubrication, since the blower does not always start spinning with ease. Otherwise, the dryer is basically unused, since it was manufactured in 1958. Still attached to shipping skid.

Do I keep it?

New top-of-the-line 1958 Blackstone dryer

Hi Fred, as you probably know, we have the other brand new gas, one which I intend to keep in display and hook up at the museum, I’m sure somebody would probably buy this electric one if you want to sell it

Using it as a room heater is a great idea, but you do need to get a 240 V line to it to get any reasonable amount of heat out of it, is there 240 V in your house?

The missing clips that hold the top in place are easy to fabricate, other than that like you said a little bit of boiling and maintenance and it worked for many years. These were pretty ruggedly built and
Quiet, running dryers.
