I have seen some threads on furniture and boomerang tables, etc, so I thought my friends here might be interested in this.

This is the corner of our bedroom, with a boomerang table and my parent's recliners from 1959.

The table was made for us by our very good friends who manufacture amazing furniture. This was probably their most basic piece, they also made us our old couch, and the armchair that we still have.

This is very much like Wakefield, only the finest wood here. My first son completely scratched the surface when he was little (I can't get mad at him, our old house was very small and not very many places to write on your coloring books--and off them!). So I decided to refinish the top myself and it actually came out ok, once I got the Verithane application mastered. (Ok not mastered, but not bad for hand application).

The legs screw on with two screws each. I just have always loved this piece.

That is a beautiful table - and recliners are great too! Do you still have the beautiful KitchenAid diswasher in your kitchen? The Philco refrigerator with matching radio? Loved those!

You're right though, you can't get mad at the kids - sometimes the stuff they pull is downright hilarious. I went in to wake up my son this morning and noticed he'd traced his hand onto his bed sheet with a marker... It's washable marker so what can you say??

Very retro furniture!! Love the table!

Nice carpeting too...I wanna test-drive my Eureka on that!! I can actually see the "vacuum marks"...

Thanks guys, some notes:

Greg: Do you have me mixed up with someone else? I have a new KA dishwasher, but my vintage one is the American Kitchens in my back house kitchen. I have a Philco Predicta TV, but not a radio. My vintage fridge is a 1963 GE, which will go to the back house within a few weeks as we replace it with a new KA to match the rest of the kitchen.

Westy: Darn you are good. I vacuumed that right before I took the picture so it would look nice. You are welcome to come over any time and test your vacs on it.

The carpet appears like my favorite kind of grey in the pic, but it's actually a light blue. My carpet cleaner guy said it was top of the line, but unfortunately, not maintained well, and there are stains in the dining and hallway areas that keep reappearing. My wife hates it, she wanted real wood throughout the house. We compromised on real wood in the living areas of the house, but new carpeting in the bedrooms. So, the end result should be grey in the same top quality, or basically, exactly as it appears in the picture!

Side story: My first wife was a polar opposite to my wife. Her idea of a well decorated house was "bad model home, 1985". You know, cattails, things either dusty rose, camel, or medium blue, and Laura Ashley everywhere. I may have a very open mind, but I am STILL a guy! Yech, Laura Ashley.

Anyways, my parents had given me one of the recliners for my first apartment, so it came with when we moved in together. She hated it. A number of times she threatened just to throw it out. So I finally asked my parents if I could store it in their garage, because I was afraid she would "accidently" ruin it. She was the same person who said my 1968 Dodge Charger R/T was a gas guzzling piece of junk and should be scrapped. Well, guess what, she is the one who got scrapped.

My wife loves the car, and the chairs. They were in the living room for a while in our old house (my parents gave us the other one 10 years ago) and now find their niche in our bedroom. One of the 1,000,000+ things I love about my wife!

Yes Kevin

I really love that table and you know it would go well with my sofa sectional. There's one in a vintage shop I haunt once in awhile but it's more typical woodtone laminate with vinyl edging, looks nice but not as nice as that. I found a nice table lamp today for only $5 and it actually goes quite nicely in my lvingroom. Can't post pics yet..darn.

I guess I did get confused about ID's and people!

Your story about the chairs and car is great, I've heard of people throwing out whole collections of neat things to please a "lifelong mate" only to find themselves wishing they'd kept the collection of things and threw out the partner! Glad you found a good balance of both!

Pete...

I am not sure if they still do tables, but you never know, they may still have one of these kicking around. If interested, they are Outer Limits at http://www.outerlimitsinc.com/. They are Michael and Tricia Bellocchio and they are the best. Tell them you know me and would like to know about a boomerang table.

(not an advertisement, just great people and furniture :-) )
