The Maxx WFL 1200 needed new brushes so used the older WFB 2005 to fix the problem. I do like the older machine more as it matches my Bosch Dishwasher, but it seemed to race through wash times! Even when started at B it would wash its way through to D within 10 min.??

Where these machines made in Germany? and which is the better of the two?

WFB 2005

When started @ D it's more like 5 rinses instead of 1 wash and 4 rinses. Sometimes I would let it wash from B through until D then start it all over again.

Sounds like a timer problem. I had the WFB machine and the cycle times were quite long. Mine was also made on a friday afternoon. New door catch when it was two weeks old. PCB and new motor before it was six months old. Was noisy as hell too! Was told by the bosch engineer that they were not true Bosch machines, it was over ten years ago that I had the machine and I can't remember who he said that made them. All I know I was without a machine for 3 weeks while they waited for the motor to be shipped from wherever it was made.

Hope you have better luck with yours.

Check where it is made (look at the plug...around the prongs may be the only place). All of our low to mid range Bosch washers come out of Thailand these days....a Bosch factory, but not made in Germany

I used to have a Bosch WFB1602 and my sister had a WFB2005 so at one time I knew the wash cycles inside out and back to front, so will say that it seems your machine has a faulty timer...assuming, that is, they used the same timers in SA machines as they did in Europe.

Cycle time on B is 110 mins
C - 85 mins
D - 60 mins

40 mins is used up on three rinses with pulsed interims (your mention of 4 rinses has thrown me).

Have you tried the easy care cycles? 70 or 55 mins; 3 rinses with no interims.

Wool took about 40 mins with no interims and a few high-speed pulse spins to complete the 2nd rinse.

I do wonder if anyone mentioned to the designers that the programme dial spelled "BAPS"...bit of a double entendre over here!

I loved these machines - they seemed quite sturdy and I loved the simple flexible programming. It seems they had faults and weren't perhaps as well made as the main range. Country of origin was Spain - probably continuing a trend for Bosch to buy in some of their cheaper models.

Best feature to watch was the pulsed post-wash spin on cottons - plenty of sudsy action! The spin itself certainly seemed to be more stable than seen on the larger drum Maxx range.

WFB series

The WFB series were manufactured by Balay of Spain. They weren't as well made because the design was actually Spanish, rather than being a German design made in Spain.

Hope this helps,

Tom.

BALAY

I remember there was a BALAY tag on one of the wires inside the older Bosch.
Thanks for the sharing guys!

p.s
will reveal the mystery to the timer a.s.a.p!
