It wouldnt do to be rich!! cause I would go get this, A CP 40 inch Tappan with all the paperwork, never used, one of the very last stoves produced before WW2 stopped all production, sounds like this guy knew that and wanted to be prepared, can you imagine how much service you would get out of this with the kind of care we would give it!!!

Wow, what an amazing find! Even to have all the paperwork! And how lucky they were to get that right before the war, I assume getting one during the war would be more difficult and more expensive.

No...

Getting one during the war was IMPOSSIBLE....All production switched to wartime production, cars appliances and darn near everything else, then after the war it took them several years to catch up, my Aunt and Uncle who will be 87 this month, got married in 47, to get a stove and refrigerator they had to go to all the stores in Lenoir and put their name on a waiting list, it took a couple of months but Teague furniture called them and they bought them over the phone, sight unseen, a Norge range and a Philco fridge....and used them until 1965 the spring before I was born, when they re modeled the kitchen and put in all new coppertone Frigidaire stuff!
