Folks, does anybody here have a Breville Oracle Touch?

Im starting to save some money to get one. It's Breville's TOL espresso maker and many specialists, including James Hoffmann, can't stop saying wonders about it.

But spending $2500 on a espresso maker isn't exactly "pleasant". I won't even mention the other expenses because you know, ill get it, then I'll want the knock box, then the cup, then the monogrammed towels to wipe the steam wand, then different coffee beans, different portafilters, accessories. Gosh, I can predict a huge dent in my wallet.

But considering I drink an average of 1.5 liters of coffee every single day and for me coffee should be like men (black, bold, strong, hot and also smell and taste great) it's worth the investment.

Anyway, is there anybody here that has that model and want to share the experience?

Note to add: I have now a Kitchen-Aid personal drip coffee maker (that I love) and a Ninja Coffee Bar that makes a lukewarm liquid that tastes like pee and I wish I could throw it from the top of the OUE Skyspace. Previously I had a DeLonghi espresso maker that I loved (when DeLonghi was still good) also Dolce Gusto, Nespresso and Senseo "wannabe espresso" machines that use capsules (never again in my life) and two Philips/Saeco superautomatic mess-makers that also costed fortunes an Illi espresso.maker that exploded and a Segafredo Zanetti that died after many years of marvelous cups but was too complicated to use.

If you're not shaking you need another cup....

Coffee is like air to me……so we’re talking serious shit here.

I buy green beans, roast them, grind them and then make my coffee. I roast beans about once a week and we usually go through about a pound per week. Sometimes more.

Last year we wanted a new espresso machine. I am one of those who does a lot of research before I make a purchase like that. I started with do I want an automatic, semi-automatic or manual? We looked at the Breville and the DeLonghi machines based on reviews I found.

We narrowed it down to the Breville Oracle Touch, Barista Touch and the DeLonghi La Specialista. We ended up with the DeLonghi and are very happy with it. Since then, they have come out with a new model that looks pretty nice too.

I have had two Automatics. Both very pricey and both touchy. They are a pain to clean and get fussy with oily beans, etc. which is why we went with a semi-automatic. I didn’t want the Oracle touch because I was concerned about the automated tamping function. It was something I was afraid would require a lot of maintenance like the automatics I have had. I liked the Breville machines because I could save my favorites but that was a nice to have for me. So we went with the DeLonghi and so far are very happy with it. I like the process of frothing the milk and watching the temp rise. The Breville gives the option of frothing manually or automated. The DeLonghi does too but it doesn’t have the option to set the temp for the milk. I kind of like the process as much as the coffee.

Long story short, if money is no object go with the Oracle touch. If you want to save favorites and automate frothing your milk, go with the Barista Touch. If you like the process the DeLonghi is a good fit and check out their new one called the DeLonghi LaSpecialista Maestro. These three get pretty good reviews so it depends on what you want out of the machine. And a bonus, get yourself a Bed Bath and Beyond 20% coupon and get the DeLonghi for 20% off. That’s what we did. You can’t use those coupons on Breville machines. Good luck with your purchase.
