Hi all, In the event that someone installs one of the Briva in sink Dishwashers, be advised....the small vacuum breakers located at the top of the sink area have small stainless caps. In the one cap(the cap to the left if looking at the unit)must be completely pressed down and the fitting INSIDE the cap must be on the tube. After 14 hours with a plumber and factory service tech from Kitchen Aid mine is up and running. Something so simple that really no one knew anything about.........

Re: When in Doubt:

It does also pay to read the Owner's Manual at some point in time, as with the Installation Instructions, unless in this case, they didn't mention about those Caps and Tubes.

I hope now that you have good luck with the operation of your new Toy.

Good Times enjoying our Appliance Collections, Steve

Hey Steve...you are right...I tell you we had a Plummer out for 14 hours (yes FOURTEEN Hours) as well as a service rep from KitchenAid/Whirlpool. He did not know about this little tidbit that caused all of this problem. Ken was ready to kill me with all of that drama. Another tidbit...for FL washers..Duet in particular...make sure the drain hose drain is at least as high as the washer (washer and pedestal) or the water will syphon out and quickly during the cycles.

Re: Congrats:

Hey! Michael, Congrats to you and your "ARMY" of Tech's. Yes I did see about everyone being there for about 14-hours, what an ordeal that had to be.

Do these Briva-Sink Dishwashers have a very good Capacity, to be well worth the $$$ for them? Is it correct that you can also use the Dishwasher Side as a Sink as well, or just as a Dishwasher?

What is the Cleaning ability with these and the Noise Level? Do you also have another regular-type Dishwasher installed still as well? Please let us know your progress of usage/comments.

Happy Briva Dishwashing, Steve

Yes DO tell.

I had a problem getting the drain-hose cap out of the dishwasher drain-hose port of a garbage-disposal.

I was so aggravated I drilled the heck out of it and it leaked like a sieve!

Have no fear; it was 75% off because of a water-damaged cardboard packing box. I wasn't too concerned I bought about a half-dozen to be gifted to family. LOL

Hey all...I have to say that the Briva is really a great addition to the kitchen. Steve, you are right, the Briva patent was from an 1940's 1950's DW that has been updated and become the Briva. Cost aside I have to say that this thing is really the "tits" <insert evil grin>. My cabinet would not hold the large 42" unit so I have the 36" unit that has the DW that holds 5 place settings or when the rack is re-configured it holds LARGE pots / pans. The DW side can be used as a regular very large sink. The rack is of course easily removed allowing for the sink to be used. The downside is the cost and the installation. Ken insisted that we have the small aux hot water unit that came to the tune of 350.00 and the DW was around 1500. In my book that is ALOT of money for a very simple machine. This is of course there was a problem when service was needed, there simply are not many of these things around. The rep from KAid quickly let me know that these are selling well in ...Palm Beach..I should be so lucky. All in all It really is nice to be able to cook and place a bowl, utensil, pan in the Briva and 3 minutes later it is rinsed and ready to use again. The regular cycle is only 20 minutes and man it cleans!....I have a full size KA that I rarely used and its cycles are much longer. As for the noise, it is about like a newer model Whirlpool, not silent but not obnoxious.

I'd love to have one of those. We're forever loading up the counters and sink waiting for the other to unload the dw. The fact is I'm supposed to be the loader of the dw and the other one is supposed to be the unloader but it never seems to work. I can just imagine what it would cost here in Canada if it's $1500 there..probably something like $2300 if it's even available and that's cutting into my hardwood flooring budget.
